I have other pair too (TV Plössl 32), but the Delos 17.3 is the best, very comfortable to use!

I would love to use the Delos for bino viewing but my IPD won't let me, thinking of trying the Nagler T6's instead, should solve my problem.

I have the same IPD issue. I have use T6 pairs in the past and loved them. I will probably add a pair of 11mm before long.

That's good to hear, I have no experience with them and it's a lot of money to drop on something you're hoping will perform well.

Same here. I was once really excited about trying out a pair of Docter 12.5mms but found them to be too big for my IDP. I compared them to the 13 T6s and I really could not tell a difference (same as others that also compared them) and have not looked back since.  I love my T6's and I I currently have the 13s & 9s. I used to also have the 11s, 7s & 5s and they are pretty consistent across the range. Also, the 16 T5s are pretty nice.

To think I sold my T6 13mm's because of the 17.3mm Delos. Than I realized the delos were not a great pair to look at zenith with and they are too heavy and bothersome unless on a giant dob maybe. IPD is much more comfy on Naglers, still waiting to buy a 16mm T5 to complete my set.

I was considering a pair of 14 Delos. How would I determine if my IDP would be suitable?

I am also considering a pair of 14 Denks.

Any recommendations?

Haven't used such 'high end' eyepiece pairs,  but all I can add is in my experience a 15mm GSO Superview pair gave better views by a country mile than a single XW 7mm in my scope. Therefore it stands to reason that 'higher quality' Naglers in bino's  'should' be better than the cheapo GSO superviews….no?

Maybe not…so buy the Nag's and do a review!

Look forward to your review  :waytogo:

At the moment I have only one pair for my Maxbrights, they are the TV 20mm Plossls.  I recently compared these rather cheap Plossls in the binos to Vixen LVW22 in mono mode on Jupiter and for my 58yr old eyes (which come complete with floaters), the cheap plossls in bino mode easily outdid the LVW in mono.

I am now again on the lookout for some binopairs .........

I preferred  views of the moon and Jupiter through a pair of WO 20mm Widefieds over my Leica zoom. Two eyes are just better for some targets.

Kasai 32mm 85°, Ethos 17mm and Ethos 13mm (Ethos downsized to 60mm diameter)

The black rings are making the Kasai 32 and Ethos 13 parfocal to the Ethos 17

ArsMachina, does the Portaball have trouble with that much weight? I'm trying to visualize how you would counterweight a Portaball, but it's been awhile since I have used one.

Hi Doug,

before I used binoviewers my Portaball was well balanced for the Nagler 31 together with a Paracorr.

I put some batteries for the mirror fan inside the sphere and this worked well.

The 2" binoviewer has a light path of 155 Millimeters, so I needed to shorten the trusses by this amount.

So the weight of the binoviewer and eyepieces is closer to the mirror and the Portaball is still very well balanced.

The weight of the Echelon is also very low, even over 100 Gramm less that a Baader Mark V

The only thing I had to change is the secondary mirror, now I have a 88mm instead of a 55mm before

I had no idea that the Echelon was lighter than a MKV bino.  The Portaball is a joy to use on its own, but a Portaball with a binoviewer would be a blast!

Indeed!  I  guess the Prisms weight more than the mirror Diagonals!

Hi Mike,

my Echelon is a prism version :-)

But the prism housing are made out of plastic, I believe this might help to keep the weight down.

Anyway, holding this huge piece is very astonishing as one is expecting it to be way heavier.

Ah ok,  I didn't see any Prism version on Harry's site.  Interesting.

I keep seeing this topic title at the top of the forum, and I can't help

thinking - would you ask that to Pamela Anderson if you met her?

I wouldn't as I'd be afraid she'd oblige!  :scared:

(maybe 20 yrs ago......but not now!)
