Finally got back to spending some quality time with my m-o-m...grin.gif

...got the drive belts, pulleys, etc., adjusted on the power head, then set it into the main box, and...discovered I don't have V-belts long enough to fit everything up (yet). undecided.gif   Still plenty of other stuff to work on, but she's finally starting to take shape...  smile.gif

Cut my first threads on my mini lathe. M56x1.0 internal to fit a Chinese refractor focuser. I'm a very novice machinist so this was intimidating. I messed up my first attempt so I turned the part around and tried on the other end. The second attempt fits nicely on the focuser. I'll finish the outside diameter tomorrow.

Assembled small chamber for bonding small parts with UV activated adhesive using a small aluminium cake pan;

Transmitted light through a fluorescing piece of laser printer paper.

Actual colour seen by eye is dark blue.

Lining the inside with aluminium kitchen foil would increas the irradiance at the workpiece.

Most mirror films have low reflectance at 365nm and shorter wavelengths so are ineffective.

365nm is the peak of the photoactivation spectral response for NOA61.

UV chamber survived a 4 hour soak test.

This is mainly a test of the adequacy of the LED heat sinking.

The LED heatsink rose to a temperature 10C above ambient temperature.

LED dissipation is about 2.7W (minus the radiated UV power (~ a few hundred milliwatts).

Successfully bonded a pair of microscope slides using a 30 minute exposure.

Finished this aluminum adapter to put a 1.25 focuser on my Meade 224. This is the first useful thing I've made on my mini lathe. I like how it turned out!
