I have a few that I've been meaning to add to the list for a while, but some are still in storage. The serial number for the one I have out is : 2 2020 6 . I will try to add more info and maybe some photos in the near future.

Thank you for your submission and update since Jan 22, 2021.

NVDW - that is indeed a very nice outfit. We are saddened to hear your mount broke and hope your efforts to recover from the damage are successful.

This scope was already in the registry on a CG3 mount per CN member Astrobril, with an original sale date of Sep 2000.

The entry has been updated with your information.

bocenedd - of course we'd love to have photos when you are able, but a description will do in leu of photos. You have been added to the registry just the same. This unit was produced in the 2nd quarter of 1976.

The new Registry with these additions is offered in JPG and PDF.

Yes I saw the registry but I thought it was mine :)
Astrobril sounds Dutch and I went to pick it up in Holland. Nice...

Yeah I don't know how to fix the mount. I thought it was lefty loosy but that tightened the screw and half of the mounting plate broke off.

I'm a newbie here.   I bought a C5 with CG3 motorized mount about 2000 +-.  It's been in storage for a lot of years, but I got it out again last night.

It's a black tube with orange Celeston on the side.   S/N 71519.

The plastic clamp part on one leg broke on me.   A 3" hose clamp around  it keeps the plastic together so it's still working and clamps the extending part of the leg in place.   I'll probably have to do the same with the other two legs at some point.

Purchased this Tri Color 1972 Model last week.  Actually I bought it last year around this time but didn't go get it until last Wednesday because it involved a road trip to Albuquerque and I live in Colo. Springs.  They were nice enough to hold it for a year.  They were super nice people to keep it that long for me.  Well, it is a nice working model and the optics seem to be great, however the paint is that fuzzy stuff that Celestron used back in the day.  I'll repaint it, keeping the same color scheme, but not with the Fuzz!!

LOL

Here are a few photos.  Serial number is 2221 2.  This is the earliest model C5 Tri Color that I've owned to date.  If it performs as nice on the night sky as it does terrestrially, it will be a keeper!

Oh, I also forgot that it came with this table top tripod.

Does anyone have one like it that is complete with the plate that the scope mounts to?  I want to manufacture one to go with it, and could use a dimension or 2.

Thanks!

Update on the Tri-Color C5 above.  I checked the motors for a date and they are marked "4-72".   So indeed 2nd quarter of 1972.  My earliest Celestron C5 to date that I've owned.  I suppose the OP might want to put that into the Registry.
