Saturn on May 20, 2016 at 1:00 AM, altitude about 21 degrees through AWB OneSky and 5x barlow. ~5400 frames shot with MS Lifecam Studio, 50% stacked in AS2!, processed in Registax and Photoshop CS2. Though a bit humid and hazy, seeing was better than average.

Nice
Just try to align the colors (RGB align) using Registax and it will look even better (same with your Jupiter image)
The RGB alignment in the newest version of Autostakkert also works very well.

Here are my Saturn Moon pics taken with the Nexstar 6SE, ZWO ASI224MC camera, post processed with Autostakkert!2 and Registax 6.
My first thought here was "did Stargazer not realize he over-exposed Saturn? Somebody should offer some pointers."
Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees, you managed to capture a moon or seven there.....
Very nice.

This is from May 13. I already included this in a separate topic last week, but I've reprocessed it a little, and am adding it here for posterity - it's possibly my best image of Saturn. I find the cloud bands can be a little clearer in the inverted image, so I have it both north and south up. I used an ADC, which I think made the subtle bands easier to capture - it was the first time I could make out more than just the bright equatorial band looking through the eyepiece. Nexstar 6SE scope, with 3x Barlow and ASI224MC camera. Saturn was at 22° when I captured this.

Well the seeing at that altitude is going play real havoc. You can nix most or all of the red and blue color fringing in Registax 6 using RGB ALIGN in the menu on the right side of the screen when the wavelets page presents itself. Other than that... it's just a challenging altitude this year (again).
Not bad.

After doing a couple of shots of Saturn last summer with my T4i DSLR, I indicated that I didn't think shooting this low in the sky was even worth the effort.
I stand corrected. The ASI224's high frame rate combined with an ADC enables low altitude planetary imaging:
C6 SCT, TeleVue 2x barlow (~4500mm EFL), ZWO ADC, ASI224MC, Baader UV/IR-cut filter
shutter=10ms, gain=400, 50% of 20,000 frames. Saturn is just 25* above the horizon here.
Just for fun, here's a 685nm IR-pass version:
Detail in the rings, and around the pole seems to be enhanced at NIR wavelengths.

Heya,
From the other night, my first attempt at Saturn.
C6-A (6" SCT)
GSO 2.0x Barlow
Canon 7D at 5x via BackyardEOS
4000 x 25% in PIPP, then 40% of that in R6.

I don't think I've had a chance to contribute to this thread so here is one of my better images from my C6/DBK618 combo. This was taken on March 22nd 2012:

Saturn was only 15 degrees above the horizon and the seeing was average 3/5, The telescope was Stellarvue SV-105T with 5X Barlow. Captured 1500 R,G and B frames with ASI120MM using the ZWO color filters, Each color was stacked separately with ASI2. Sharpened with Registax6 (wavelets), de-rotated and color combined with WinJUPOS. Final color balance and touch-up with Photoshop. The white dots are not hot pixels but Saturn's moons Mimas, Enceladus and Tethys. This image was captured on May 23, 2016.

That's actually pretty good, Toddeo. You have a nice, sharp Cassini Division, along with several cloud bands - not bad at all for your third time out!

Thanks, KiwiRay! I recently picked up a used ZWO ASI120MC- haven't tried it out yet! I bought the NexImage5 over a year ago, just never tried it out until a couple weeks ago! I thought I would start with the NexImage5 and then work my way up to better cameras. Its very peaceful- capturing videos - out under the AZ sky! This could be addicting!

Nicely done. Good contrast on the banding.

Thank you.
It was another lucky night, better than the one on March when I took the last picture I posted in the Jupiter challenge.
The seeing was incredible, visually I had the best view of Saturn and Mars ever

I've been processing my C6 Saturn's all day from last night. Not even close to the good work on this page. The seeing is a real bear this low in CT where I imaged from. Nice work guys.

OK guys, after about 10 or so avis of Saturn in low altitude seeing this was about the bestbest. Hardly perfect but about as good as I could extract from 27 degree altitude seeing over a parking lot!!!!!
Hope you like.

Nice capture, Pete! Nothing like shooting through thermals!
