That looks like a Student Deluxe not a Model A Deluxe which has the 1.5" shaft mount, rotating rings and 50mm finder.

I talked to the gentleman before the listing.  He contacted me.   It is unclear if it is a Cave mirror, but chances are it is.   He did not want to take the mirror out.  He did say he saw an "F/9" on the side.

The shipping would cost as much as the scope that far away.  Plus i would never trust having it shipped after what UPS did to a $1200 pellet gun i sold someone. I never shipped a thing after that and will never again.

I would jump on it if it was local.  But there are never any real scopes in the Tampa area.

That's sad. What a shame to do that to an early Cave.....heck, any Cave.

The owner says he bought it that way 20+ years ago.

I had my eye on this Unitron and I was trying to decide when all of a sudden the price went from $375 to $450.
Well thats a shame because $375 was borderline reasonable and $450 is being silly:

I have...three of those I think, one an 826. Good scopes for the 8", a push for the mount with the 10".  Nice optics in all mine so far. Haven't ever seen the bearings (not ball or roller anyway) Meade claimed to put in them. One of mine is the wound tube finish. I wouldn't sell that with a Magellan for under $200.

My sister-in-law is a realtor.  She says when folks ask an unreasonable price for a house, they really don't want to sell...

I wouldn't ask $500 for a 60mm fairly common alt/az refractor unless an Apollo mission used it on the Moon -- and I could prove it.  I posted an uncommon Space Scope 60mm EQ that could probably be had for < $200 --> www.ebay.com/itm/Space-Scope-Vintage-Telescope-Research-Optical-Co-Japan-w-Wood-Box-/400934012093?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d598784bd

I'm using the same mount with my 6" Tinsley Cassegrain.  It's smooth & stable, but no metal bearings.  It has a nylon bushing on the DEC axis.

Looks like it has been repainted, but they didn't clean up the shaft.

When did Sysn Scan begin doing private labeling?  If not, does Orion know that this fellow is invading their turf?

Only had the older version of the 8" F/8 Edmund.  $600 is too high.

$600 is way too high. The Detroit one (scan the Detroit craigslist) could be a sweet deal for one of these. The condition does look nice and $350 is a nice price too.

On the rare times a real scope does pop up on my local CL the price is sky high. I can't even find it doing a search.

I mean i can't find the one on my area if i do a search.  I see it when i click the link here, and i sent him a e mail asking if anything else came with it.  Looks like a 80mm finder on that scope in detroit.
