I have a pretty beat up tube from a Unitron 114 that someone can have for the cost of shipping if they can put it to use. I bought it for a project that I ended up not pursuing. Usable as is but ugly, with several dents and lots of scratches.

The 114 tube has been claimed!

Forgot that I had this -- it's been up in the attic for Years....

Sears Model 6344 Wood Cabinet w/ Styrofoam Inserts:

Sears Model 6344 GEM S11 - Wood Cabinet.jpg Sears Model 6344 GEM S12 - Wood Cabinet.jpg Sears Model 6344 GEM S13 - Wood Cabinet.jpg

It's still sturdy, but the hinges could use tightening / reinforcing.  The laminate is in good condition -- no separating.  Lots of scratches on the top & bottom panels, but no cracks.  IIRC, it's missing 1 of the 6 Styrofoam inserts.

Free to a good home, but shipping will be costly!  I'll have to build a box for it, so probably won't be able to get to it until after JAN 15th.

PM me if you're interested.

Criterion Dynascope 4" focusers, one eyepiece and secondary mirror, broken 0.965" diagonal, 6x30 finder, Sears 12x40 finder that needs work. I'm moving and would like to get rid of this all if possible. Shipping shouldn't be more than $9 for anywhere in the US

Edit: well that was fast! All gone

Old S&T magazines for the cost of shipping. These are in nice condition.

NO FLIPPING. This is to plug some annoying voids for collectors that keep, appreciate, and even use their collection.

1. You will be a CN member

2. This forum has eyes on every classified in the country

3. You accept your reputation here will be tanked if found flipping

1977 missing Jan. and July only. I will send these 10 to one person.

1976 I HAVE Mrch, May, Aprl, Jun, Jly, Aug, Sept.

1978 I HAVE Jan, Feb, Mrch, Jul, Aug.

I'd like to spread these around in groups of 3 or 4 issues to 3 or 4 people. It would be nice to help multiple collection.

I'll send more to one person if all fill annoying small spots in a collection.

Some suggestions for beginners.

Go for large block acquisitions and fill small spots. You will have a nightmare in logistics by taking any small batch that comes along. The purchase cost with shipping isn't worth fixing the hodge podge gaps. This has been my experience. I've collected for decades and in the last few years have sold off all my single issues, over 2,000 of them, more than originally published due to the duplicates.

Shipping cost sadden me. One issue will probably be a few bucks so it will help if you need a few. Shipping cost goes down some after the holidays so I'll wait till later Jan if you reserve.

See you in pm, not here.

Media mail has some issues that I won't go into here. One issue I will state is that media mail requires a BOX, it cant be used with a manila envelope. There are other issues.

Buyer pays shipping so buyer has options, to be discussed in pm only. Thank you.

Gosh, just today I thought about filling in some gaps that were regrettably tossed out years ago. Need to go check them!

I believe media mail was set up for educational and learning materials and technically anything sent by it can not contain ads. Although the ads in old magazines are obsolete, I'm not sure if the Post office will excuse vintage commercial materials.

Considering the magazines are free, other ways of mailing are OK.

Media Mail can not have advertisements regardless of how old the ads are. You can ship in bubble mailers, but again these can’t ship that way anyhow. First class is possible.

Right.  I had not known that, so I looked it up.  They do permit books that contain small announcements of other books (as almost all books did about 120 years ago).  But not a magazine with advertising.

Do any of your 1976 issues cover the Vicking lander on Mars? If so I'd be interested.

Contacts should be done in PM but Gary made an excellent request to share here. This was a good call. Three more are going to Gary, July, Aug, and Sept of 76.

Front cover listings for 1976:

July, "Viking and Mars: A Prelude"

Aug, "The Viking 1 Landing - Site Decision"

Sept, "Viking 1 Lands on a Very Red Planet"

Nice series Gary, please go to pm for shipping details, see you there.

Offered for salvage: Celestron vintage 32mm Erfle, made by Carton

Issues:

1.  a fingerprint is permanently applied to to the top outer surface of the glass. Hard to see but at the right angle it shows.

2.  a long and fat white scratch or marking is seen on the interior glass surface. This was hard to see unless you look for it using a bright light and a black background.

3.  Some tiny dust contaminants inside the other glass.

4.  cosmetic (as if it matters at this point): the dark barrel, which is an interesting charcoal with of faint hint of green or something, is a bit blotchy in places.

This eyepiece seems to require a spanner to open up. Not sure.

Hi all- I picked up an old "304x" Tasco 60mm- I think it is a 7TE-2. Was in rough shape, missing lots of stuff. I kept the OTA, giving away the rest.

Please take a look at the pic and let me know if you want anything for your restoration project. Free with the cost of shipping.   1. The porro prism I believe has bad prisms, dirty/wet/fungusy, so consider it just the housing that threads directly onto the old Royal drawtube, think it is 36.4mm?  2. Only have two legs and they are kind of gouged up as seen. 3. Rest of items as seen in the pic.

I would prefer and give priority to someone who is looking for specific pieces for a restoration or other project.

20220101 191831

If anyone is willing to give an extra buck or two donation just to cover tape and packing materials I'd appreciate it. All goes back to helping me rescue more stuff and bring it to the forum.

Take care! Darren

Just a quick update on the 7TE-2 parts. So far it looks like the following are claimed:

  • Projection screen rod
  • Slow motion cables
  • Counterweight and counterweight shaft
  • Possibly the center tray holder pieces if no one else wants the legs

Rest are still available- I'll give it another day or so then settle this all out. Thanks for your patience everyone!

Darren
