I have just finished a comparison by using my own source files.

M81 & M82, taken on May, 2015. ISO 1600, 280S, 49 frames. No calibration.

Background noise, high value is high noise

Interesting.

So the DSS stack has 76 more stars (0.03%) yet higher FWHM ?

What's your conclusions ?

The conclusion is easy to see.

Siril gives obviously better background noise and FWHM than DSS does.

Took me a while to grok what FWHMx and y meant compared to what i'm used to; regular FWHM :)

Do you have plans to test other stackers ? Like PixInsight, Regim, Iris, AstroStack, SWarp, Theli, CCDStack, Iraf, etc. ?

Would be interesting !

Hi, can you give us some info on the parameters/steps used for each?

Obviously the choice of debayer/registration/stacking algorithms can make a big difference.  Even in DSS, just choosing different stacking methods can result in higher or lower noise in the final image.
