With the Vixen 1.25" adapter and star diagonal, mine measures 1,028mm from stem to stern.  You could lose about 50mm without the diagonal in place.

Thanks - that's exactly what I needed to know. I can look for a suitable case online now. Probably something like a tripod or lighting-stand case off Amazon with the right measurements.

For visual back, I went for this, as it looks very secure and will arrive quickly:

https://www.rotherva...read-364mm.html

Is it ok to ask further questions here, or should I open a new thread on the CT board (about accessorising etc)?

Ant

Maybe better to start a new thread and we'll consolidate related posts from here, too.

Corrected version. I had a typo in the serial number for Spyke's 831.

Wow! I still have the second oldest on the list! I wonder if #1 or any of the ones numbered 3 thru 27 will show up?

Please add the 838 I just won on SGW.  Serial # 60281.  Looks to be complete and in pretty good shape.  Should be arriving in about a week.

Here is the latest Classic Swift Registry

1.) EBay has cleaned up many of their old listings, so most of those hyperlinks no longer work. I'll clean them up next time. I'll also enlarge the fields since some of the text seems cut-off

2.) Corrections or additions always welcome.

Looks like a nice one. Your box looks like it has just a clear coat instead of the greenish-brown stain.

I just noticed that your leg looks lighter too.

A question for everybody, are there others documented like that?

Looking at the registry, I find it interesting that the serial numbers are sequential no matter the model, but they also seem to come in groups of the same model.

Hi all,

Just registered and first post.

My mother just bought me an old second-hand Swift 831 (ser: 703022) from a local charity shop.

Unfortunately it didn't come with any mount, just a small box with two eyepieces in it.

Eyepieces: Kellner 12mm, Kellner 20mm & Ach. Huv. 40mm. Also something else related to the eyepiece, like some sort of adapter (but I cannot figure where it goes - see attached pic).

I have another type of tripod mount similar to an "Amazon Basics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod with Bag" but telescope has no way of connecting to a mount i.e. no "Guiding Scope Rings" or similar things.

Is there any way to alter/adjust/build an adapter to connect the telescope to the mount or any idea how much a compatible mount would be for this telescope (as cheap as possible...very little money).

I'm open to any ideas smile.gif

Malcolm
