Whenever i go to nightskiesnetwork.com I wonder if they really want people to watch anything.  Just a link to a nearly unused forum, a broadcast tool, and.... no links to any current or past video streams.

I guess I need an RSS feed reader?  It would be helpful to have a "HERES HOW TO WATCH VIDEOS" guide, if that's what they're hoping for people to do.

When you click on a link to a raw RSS feed on a mac, it brings up the News app and... nothing happens.

Maybe people would use the website if it was usable.

I understand your frustration!!!

Lately NSN has had a lot of problems with browsers. I have been switching around with different browsers ( Google, Firefox, Opera and Safari),  lately Foxfire has worked intermittently .

That being said I suspect that you are trying to connect when no one is broadcasting. If you just see the three sample screens then no one is online. When someone is broadcasting you will see their screen just below the samples. Click on this to connect.

This is a great resource and I hope they get the problems solved soon. The community there is a great bunch of people who are always ready to help. I'm sure there many people who have had your experience and just have given up.

Iv'e been told to use Google "portable" but I have had little success . Good luck and keep trying because NSN and the community are well worth it.

Jim

I have pretty much given up on the site. It's unfortunate that it is having so many issues as I was really trying to watch folks who were using Sharpcap to learn more about how to use it.

The Chromium Portable browser is known to work with NSN: https://sourceforge....cts/crportable/

There have recently been some issues but they are usually addressed quickly, so you might try again. When someone is broadcasting you will see a thumbnail image on the Home page; just click it to join the broadcast. Only registered users can participate in the voice and text chat but unregistered users can still listen in.

I was able to watch a broadcast a couple nights ago on Chrome.  Not every night has someone broadcasting...you have to time it right and catch them on there.....not many if any announce that they are broadcasting....i do know that saguaro usually does announce...but she seems to be the exception.

That makes sense that there are links when there are active streamers.  I guess it would be good for them to have a placeholder explaining that for people who seem to drop in at unlucky times, see nothing, and have no incentive to return.

I'll try again!

I am going to run my budget EAA live stacking setup tonight.

It will be live streamed starting around 8-9pm EST
https://youtu.be/tf_m9f_ySUo

I am planing to check out some of the brighter supernova.
I might also try to follow along one of Sue Frenches deep sky wonders with live stacking, or maybe look for some ARP galaxies.

I made an electro luminescent panel for flat frames, and I adjusted the position of my undersized secondary mirror in order to center the vignetting. Hopefully I can get flat frame correction working for this stream.

It might be monochrome or it might be color, I don't know yet

My equipment will be

RT224 color or RT290 mono

Meade Mini LighBridge 114mm F4 newt

+25mm CScount E-finder scope

Onstep Converted Super Polaris

MiniPC running sharpcap

Remote desktop over wifi

Steaming to youtube using OBS

2nd light with my 294 pro tonight on NSN.....of course now that I say that the clouds will move in but gonna give it a try. I want to try getting flats for the first time ever.  I also hope to try out a new filter - Baader SkyGlow vs. my LPS D1.
