Not a broadcast announcement, but a note that the nearly 11 hour broadcast of the Messier Marathon is done!

98/110 targets, the rest blocked by the home and mountains. But I got all that were viewable.

One comment - I love this YouTube broadcasting method. Very easy to use and efficient. And it handles these long broadcasts without a problem.

Kudos to the MC X2 and Canon 60Da...and the LX850. Without this equipment the marathon goals could not have been met.

BTW, I won't do very many 11 hour broadcasts. This was a special event. ;)

Thank-you everyone for stopping by throughout the night. I enjoyed the company!

Time for me to pass out...night y'all!

Caught some of this, will the youtube video stay up? If so please link it here, this was quite the effort and it would be great that we can have a recording to refer people to to see how EAA is done.

Thank-you Curtis - the Messier Marathon was definitely an endurance run I do not do very often. ;) It was clearly a tag and go run, NOT a pretty picture run.

There were a few glitches with the equipment somewhat early on the run, but I was able to pull it off in spite of the Moon and clouds towards the end.

The FULL broadcast can be found here: https://www.youtube....h?v=1XQmYGfQNdI

However when I get a chance I will be condensing the Messier Marathon to a 2-3 minute video. Easier watching for the audience lol. Stay tuned!

Two suggestions, one, viewers can always select 2x to get through it faster. Second, you can place links to each object both on the video and also in the comments in a list.

CORRECTION ON THE BROADCAST TIME - TIME CHANGE!

The broadcast will be at 8:30 PM MST/10:30 PM EST/0330 UTC (March 5).

The equipment for the March 4, 2016 Broadcast will be the usual:
* Meade LX850 mount
* The Canon 60Da will be paired with the 14" f/8 ACF using the Optec Lepus 0.62x reducer
* The Mallincam X2 will be paired with the Meade 6000 80mm ED APO
Both running of the MacBook Pro with Wirecast Live, EOS Utility, MallinCam Control, and Nebulosity.

Tonight's broadcast will focus on some fun, bright targets for the EAA world, and then some quick fun with imaging.   Also, I will be testing a few tweaks to the viewing interface on YouTube.

Come over to view, chat and join the fun!  My goal is to get more and more outsiders involved who would like to "meet the astronomer" - YOU GUYS!  Also any questions about space travel, space exploration and some of the flights I have coming up are welcome.

Broadcast over

AT8IN/CGEM

Will try RI on Makemake and NGC 4725 (will have reducer in).

Sony a5100 experiments will continue. Primary targets will be Jupiter and Moon.

Still on Mac, so software will be whatever I can get to work. Will post a link when I start.

Watch me setup!

Lost power due to laptop battery dying since I didn't realize it wasn't plugged in. Did not locate frame grabber :( did get goto working well and was able to use RI to see blackeye galaxy and NGC 4725 with my eyes, also got the area of Makemake, but it's tough without a frame grabber. going to look at a few more places.

The winds should be calming down tonight in New Mexico and the skies will be clear. Another good night for broadcasting!

The broadcast will be at 9:30 PM MST/11:30 PM EST/0430 UTC (April 4).

The equipment for the April 2, 2016 Broadcast will be the usual:
* Meade LX850 mount

Tonight's broadcast will start with some fun, bright targets for the EAA world, and I will be moving to imaging galaxies.   I will also test out some audio add ons.  Yeah, it could be a disaster, lol.

Come over to view, chat and join the fun!  My goal is to get more and more outsiders involved who would like to "meet the astronomer" - YOU GUYS!  Also any questions about space travel, space exploration and some of the flights I have coming up are welcome.

When I am in New Mexico, I use every opportunity I can to view the heavens - which is often down here! And tonight looks like another potentially great night for looking skyward!  That means another broadcast TONIGHT!!

The broadcast will be at 9:30 PM MST/11:30 PM EST/0430 UTC (April 5).
The equipment for the April 4, 2016 Broadcast will be the usual:
* Meade LX850 mount
* The Canon 60Da will be paired with the 14" f/8 ACF using the Optec Lepus 0.62x reducer and Lumicon Deep Sky Filter.
* The Mallincam X2 will be paired with the Meade 6000 80mm ED APO

Both running of the MacBook Pro with Wirecast Live, EOS Utility, MallinCam Control, and Nebulosity.

Tonight's broadcast will be focussed on imaging galaxies, so a little less of a video astronomy tour and more of a pure imaging session.  I will also be testing the audio tools a bit more, blending the music with the talk.

BTW, thank-you to CN subscriber Chuck, one of the viewers last night, who suggested I take a peek at NGC 4565.  The view was so good in this very urban location, I decided to take a few pictures of it.  The attached view shows the quick imaging session.

I am really liking this YouTube method of broadcasting!  Very, very flexible, loads of tools, and very easy to do!
