Just got done with my Telrad Mod to get it to fit where I wanted to on my Orion XT8. I'm very excited for some clear skies!

Good deal!

I've often wondered why those were soooooooooo long...

I think Apogee had their version of the telrad/rigel, and it looks VERY similar to your mod. Perhaps a bit taller though. :)

Yeah, good work! It looks like it was manufactured that way.

'course, if you had REALLY wanted to impress us, you'd have cut it in half lengthwise.

I guess the Telrad was due for a facelift, and I think you did a pretty good job. The new name might be the HALF-TELRAD. :p

Very neat! I mount my Telrad on XT8 the similar way, but never bothered cutting it. It just hangs over the front of the OTA.

How much lighter is it now? You cut some off but added the 2xAA enclosed holder.

Great job.

I believe they're made long to reduce parallax of the reticle.

Thats why I wanted to see the inside. He didn't move the emitter.. The space he chopped off what the battery compartment in the rear. No loss. I like how he re-did the compartment...

Instead of HALF-TELRAD, you could call it the TELF since it already says that on the side.

Would you like the regular Telrad with that scope, or if your watching your weight, a Telrad Lite?
