Image of open cluster Messier 36 in Auriga.  Very similar to the Pleiades, but 10 times further away.

Skywatcher 80ED

Canon 400D (ISO 800)

18 x 30sec

Registration and stacking with IRIS

Post processing with GIMP 

 

While the stars in the cluster are predominantly blue, I found that there was a good mix of colors in the background stars.  So I used the SBLUR function in IRIS to exagerate the star colors.
