Thank you. My biggest challenge was figuring out where to actually to place the cover over the mask. . I found this post that helped (https://aptforum.com...pic.php?p=31501). I. still have not made it through the 24 pages of this thread. May be same is discussed somewhere in it :-)

My 8 EdgeHD needed some adjusting, so I worked with it in and out of focus for two nights, tiny turns of the screws, and then last night did the final adjustment with my tri-bahtinov mask. Looks pretty close and images improved.

I would recommend you adjust your scope in exactly the same configuration as you intend to use it. My 8 EdgeHD had a Celestron .7 reducer and a UV/IR filter on when I adjusted it. Then imaged with same configeration. Keep practicing!

Thanks! When you say moving in and out of focus, are you trying to do the above collimation while out of focus or you are just redoing the collimation after bringing it back into focus, to make sure you are indeed at the focus where you need to be ? This is where I got to last night. still see some ellongations at the edges. have to keep trying i guess.

I started without the mask, moved out of focus and tried to make the circles concentric, sometimes very close to focus. Then after doing that as best I could, I used the mask the next night for finishing touches, which was a very slight adjustment.

I don't know whether it's the end of this thread. As the OP, I am very flattered that what I had made in 2016 has become a device that many in the community have successfully used for collimation. It is amazing to me that after 8 years, the TriBahtinov mask has grown from obscurity to being available commercially, many community contributions of STL files for 3D printers and now software for aligning the spikes.

All the above progress would not have been possible without S. Takagi (Psittacula) who made the improved TriBahtinov and Chris (insertnamehere) who wrote the TriBahtinov Collimator software. IMO, the contributions from them and the cloudynights community have made the TriBahtinov mask a success.

Thank you everyone!

you have done amazing things for the community.

im working with Chris on his awesome Tri-Bat App.

My problem is collimating a Mak 150 with no front knobs, only 6 rear bolts, not fun in the dark . lol

I've come across this subject today - I've been trying to generate a mask cover for my C 9.25.  I've entered in the data and generated the cover as an svg file, but when I go to convert it from svg to stl, the file only shows the edges of the cover, nothing filling any of the space between the lines.  Any idea on what I may be doing wrong in the process?  Are there any extra steps that I should be following?

Thanks,

I first learned about Tri-Bahtinov masks, as many other people did, on this thread.

Thanks Cytan!
