December 2015 (IC 1848) by Narrowbandwidth

It's a 6 panel mosaic, with SII/HA/OIII. Each panel has 6 hours of each filter (9 x 40m), so it's 108 hours of total exposure time. I threw out about 20 hours of the worst exposures (seeing conditions), but the 108 hours is after that was removed.

Due to the aspect ratio I don't have a good way to show it in 1:1 (800x800 for the attachment), but you can see a higher resolution version here.

Here is the equipment used:

    STF-8300M, OAG-8300, FW5-8300
    3nm Astrodon Filters
    AP1100GTO CP3 Mount
Takahashi TOA-150 with Feathertouch + Motorkit, TOA-35 Flattener
    Lodestar x2 for Autoguiding

I used the SkyX Pro for acquisition, and Pixinsight for processing. The filters were combined using PixelMath.

All of the imaging was done from my backyard outside of phoenix, which is a red zone.

The image was taken through 20 nights, finishing on December 16th.

This is 45 x 300s HA subs. All imaged in the last 5 hours.

    3nm Astrodon Filters
    AP1100GTO CP3 Mount
    Takahashi TOA-150 with Feathertouch + Motorkit, TOA-35 0.7x Reducer
    Lodestar x2 for Autoguiding

October 2016 Challenge (Helix Nebula) by cmassa:

"Here's my rendition, in HOO. I imaged this from my backyard observatory in Chico, California through mid September. It's really low in the sky, never getting above 29 deg from the horizon and since I'm north of town I have to image it through the light dome of Chico. I did it in NB with Ha and OIII. I initially had 40 x 30 min subs of each filter but after running through SubframeSelector in PI I ended up with 29 x 30 min of each filter for a total of 29 hours of integration."

OTA: Celestron 8" EdgeHD SCT with 0.7x reducer

Camera: Atik 383L+ mono with EFW2 filter wheel, Baader Ha and OIII filter

Mount: Paramount MX+

Guiding: Lodestar X2, Orion Thin OAG, PHD2

Automation: SGP

Processing: PixInsight

After running eleven (!!!) years, we will suspend this contest for a while, until maybe our members would like to kick it up again later.
