Thought I would start a thread for people to post their images and share info taken with their ASI1600MC-Cool. Please no ASI160MM images because there is a thread for that.

 

This is my first attempt with the camera.

18 x 300   139 gain offset 21    -15c

Hi Corsair. Great image. Nice processing.

 

Did you actually do 50 darks at 300 sec. That equals 250 min or 4hrs 10 min? I hoping you have a shortcut because I would like to have more darks but I don't want to have to spend that amount of time.

 

I am a total newb. Here is my effort at M31.

 

Unity gain

118 x 45 sec exposures.

Lights/darks/flats

Processed in Pixinsight.

Nice image, M31 is on my list when it gets higher in the sky. Did you use any LP filter? Yes I took 50 darks. I should take some more I like to use more or equal to the number of lights. I do them in the house at night or during the day when I am at work. I set it and let it do its thing. I go with -15c so I can take them in my house when it is 85-90 without maxing out the cooler. In the winter it never goes much below 30F so these darks should be good year round.

Yeah that's true. Nice thing with the darks that we don't have to babysit them.

You don't need a filter wheel to use an LP filter. They make some that thread right into the imaging train. 
If you aren't willing/able to drive to a dark site, it really helps. I have the IDAS LPS D1. It's a great filter and seems to maintain color better than some others that I have really strong green tints.

Both very nice images! My ASI1600MC-C camera is arriving,,, today, maybe within the hour!

Needless to say I'm looking forward to it and excited, and hopefully I'll have something to add to this thread in a day or two, clouds agreeing.

During the last half of July and all of August work is very slow for me business wise. I have been blazing through software packages after ordering my new telescope system a month ago:

Just last week I bought Nebulosity 4 upgrading from using SharpCap's LiveStack and DeepSpaceStacker. Now after a few days and watching many tutorials on YouTube, I just ordering a 45 day trial of Pixinsight. I think my M31 below is the most I am going to get out of Nebulosity 4 and Photoshop. I have seen some great results that look magazine quality with the Hyperstar and Pixinsight, so I am going to take the plunge. There are a LOT of YouTube tutorials on YouTube, so I think I'll get there:

NGC 6888 / Crescent Nebula

 

The Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888) is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus the Swan. Notoriously difficult to view without the use of a narrowband filter.

 

 

I was unable to pick up any OIII here @ 9.3 hours. ZWO ASI1600MC-Cool

Here's one I like because it was the first time I had viewed and captured. Nothing earth shaking just to show what can be done in 75sec.  I had to quickly grab this one as it was getting into the local LP so 5 short stacks at 15sec-bin 2x2.  ASI1600MC-Cool - C8 @ f6.8 - Idas LPS-P2

I am a beginning imager and I've only had a couple nights out with my ASI1600MC-Cool since I got it, but I'm having lots of fun with it. I mostly use it for EAA but I also try to do some basic post-processing to see if I can improve my images. These were taken with Sharpcap, then stacked in DeepSkyStacker, and final tweaks in PhotoShop. All images taken with the ASI1600MC-Cool and CCDT67 F/7 focal reducer, C14Edge/AP1600 unguided.

I mostly use it for EAA but I also try to do some basic post-processing to see if I can improve my images. 

 

 

You might consider simply increasing the number of exposures. The ASI1600 is a 12 bit resolution camera. Increasing the number of exposures to around 80 makes the effective resolution 14 bits like the 8300 cameras (per Jon Rista's analysis). I'm using Hyperstar with the ASI1600MC and the C14. I always try to get at least 81x45sec exposures with each target. This is what I used for this 4-panel mosaic of M31.

The the top two panels are still slightly out of balance but overall the contrast is good.
