Last night (with the aid of an expensive tripod, mount and imaging equipment) this very cheap little mirror made me very happy!

My trusty old Meade RG8800 8" F6 Newtonian at Okie-Tex back around 2001.  The mount has been "pimped out" with a Byers drive and I moved the stock RA drive gear to the Dec axis.  I also motorized the focuser and installed a DSC system.

To me that is a telescope that I can only dream about  if in a place where I could just roll it out to observe with it.

If the optics are good it would be a cost effective counter to an expensive APO.  Bill

The RG series of scopes from Meade typically had very good optics.  My RG8800 gives very sharp views.

One of my all time favorites - a Cave 8” f/8 Model B Deluxe. Wish I had never sold it…..

Back in the day I had the biggest telescope in the club, a RV6. Then a friend bought a Cave 8 inch F/8. Wow! What a difference in size. It dwarfed the RV6. What a beautiful telescope. I'd love to own one now.

Me too, but I “think” I have stopped buying scopes as I have everything I need. But I do have two 8” Cave primary mirrors and if the right scope came along…..

Another  8” scope I let go. Excellent optics and the complete set as supplied by Meade.

Orion 10" Newtonian - just got this setup 7-28-21

254mm, FL1200mm, F/4.7

On a Sky-watcher heq5 pro. I know, i know but you can't get an EQ6-R pro at the time "Covid". Will get a EQ6-R pro when they are back in stock. It weighs 35lbs and 38lbs with camera. Mount shows/sounds no issues when moving.

Steeped up from a Meade 395 90mm.

Another one that got away….but it went to a great guy who puts it to good use. Two of my friends who helped me remove the  Cave 12.5 Observatory Model from its observatory and get it home.

this is my now get and go setup. a modified home built mobile pier with a stellarvue M2C mount ( this mount is in my option one of the best altazimuth mount with out slow motion controls you can buy) and a celestron omni xlt 150 reflector. i bought the scope new and never used it much because it was on a tripod and i just dont like tripods. i set down to observe on a computer chair with rollers and was always bumping into the legs, the pier solved that. i really like this setup, this scope really amazes me how sharp the views are, i must have got lucky and received one with a good mirror. don

daquad, probably about 60lbs all together, but a breeze rolling out on my open concrete patio. those units on the front side of the pier are stabilizers, in other words when i roll it out on the patio and one side is higher then the other i just loosen the knob and a 5/8th bolt drops down to stabilize the pier. a welding shop here in the city i live in did the work putting the pier together and the stabilizers. i worked up the design and they build it.

Another view of my Sharpstar 150mm F 2.8 Hyper Newt on a CI-700 mount.  I was testing out an ASI-1600MMp with the scope.

They play well together. (^8

Here's my 6" F4.5 RFT. I made it 50 years ago this year. from an Edmund mirror grinding kit. Cave refigured the optics and had it 'silvered' and coated by Pancro. It made its first trip to Stellafane this summer.

I like the pup, too😉!
