They're supposed to be excellent. The seller has a post in the Uncensored Takahashi Yahoo group stating he'll consider much lower offers.

did not know Tak made an SCT.  if the optical quality is like everything else they make this should be outstanding for an sct.

from 1990 and this must be a very rare scope.

$4000 will narrow the field of people that will respond.   however, for a scope with excellent optics of that quality $3-4K is reasonable

Drunk, passed out on the carpet Selsi 75mm/910mm $160

Is f/12 a common focal length among older scopes, or is this Selsi part of a smallish subset?  Seems a little short when you are used to looking at f/15 scopes, lol.

(Royal) Astro Optical sold these under their brand, as well as Lafayette F-384 & Selsi 247.  I have the Lafayette version, and it's one of my favorite scopes.

BB, I believe the 75mm x 910mm preceded the much more common Selsi Model 247 80mm x 910mm which are found with H.O.C and APL on the tag. Many examples owned by CN members that I looked at to compare with.

I can only find one other of these scopes with the same name badge. It also has no makers mark to be seen.

The objective cell appears to match the H.O.C and APL maker scopes. I do not see any indication that would lead me to believe that the older late 50s? version listed for sale has any connection with Astro Optical. Still is a very good scope. Would like to see if objective cell has any engraved information on it.

Note that AO has always listed their 3" models as 76.2mm going back to a brochure/catalog in July 1956. Never as 75mm.

If anyone buys it, would be nice to see if there is any inspection tags to verify the date range. Too bad no photo of the wooded box to look for an inspection tag.

Mariemont is just across the bridge and down the road a few miles from me. Looks quite interesting and the price is certainly right, but with my 3" F16 Unitron, a 3" F16 Sears that I keep at my daughters, and my blacktube C80 with absolutely amazing optics, no niche is unfilled! I pass! ;)

It does look like a nice scope, but wouldn't you think someone wanting more than $150 for something would find a more flattering way to display it for a picture?  I understand if someone is selling a $20 throw away scope having a photo like that, but it just makes sense to display it in as flattering a view as possible.

Now THAT is a picture worthy of a $15 scope! Of course the scope is worth more, I'm just saying the picture is appropriate for the asking price.  I once had furniture stolen and the police got someone to sneak in the suspects house and voluntarily take pictures.  This photo reminds me of one of those that had to be snapped surreptitiously.

Nice portable observatory in a blue bag...

ETX-90RA + #884 Tripod & Meade Bag on Goodwill --> http://www.shopgoodw...e-35365069.html

Ships via FedEx.  Auction Ends on 12/16/2016 8:53:00 PM PT.

Mizar(?) version of a Classic?

Bushnell Banner Astro 280 (60x700 AZ) IOB on Goodwill --> http://www.shopgoodw...e-35373230.html

EVERYTHING in the original plastic bags.  Ships via UPS.  Auction Ends on 12/14/2016 7:24:00 PM PT.  Good Christmas Gift for a youngster!

Another brand-new looking Starter Scope...

Meade Infinity 114/900 EQ-1B on Goodwill --> http://www.shopgoodw...B-35306269.html

LPO in Chattanooga TN.  Auction Ends on 12/14/2016 7:13:00 PM PT.

The Registry Strikes Back...

Apollo Model 4013 (Kenko 60x910 EQ) on A-Mart --> http://www.astromart...ified_id=934454

$300 + shipping.  Our Xavier sold this scope (S/N 1015) back in OCT 2014.  Based on the JTII sticker, it's from 1961, 1964, 1966 or 1973 (no circles, so I'm thinking 1960s).  Based on the label, it was for the German market.  Lens looks excellent, and the mount has Eikow styling, but it's not perfect cosmetically, and has no case -- over-priced IMHO.

Only 2 Days Left - Criterion Dynamax 8 (B&G) on Goodwill --> http://www.shopgoodw...e-35291345.html

** Check out photo #4:  Looks like somebody used a crowbar to tear off the Mercedes (symbol) 8x50 finder!  The holes show the layers of dark paper that make up the tube.  Reminds me of the near-antique sheet-rock I ripped out when I rebuilt our guest bathroom.  (Our house was built in 1947.)

One town over from me and I've already contacted them.  Waiting on them to return from a trip.  For $15 all I'm asking is that it has working legs (and eyepiece tray) that will fit the mount flanges on my Tasco 14TE.  Stay tuned.

There sure ate lots of cheap little scopes with shaky mounts and sorry eyepieces being posted lately....I feel like I'm a kid back in the 70's praying for a 6" Newtonian so I could do some real observing... :bomb:
