Nice, but I wouldn't pay $1k for it. I got my black tube for $600

Alright let's kick it off with something from the Reagan administration:

B&L Banner Astro 1000 80mm/1000mm $80 on a sweet GEM

https://washingtondc...5941897045.html

Awesome scope I would buy it in heart beat for three times that price. It's the same scope as the Pentax J80 with collimateable cell and all. Somebody jump on it now!

Can't believe no ones bought yet!

its too far of a drive for a $200 scope.  An hour each way.

I don't blame you J. Why? I wouldn't either. No point. It's a nice starting point for some folks tho. I'm sure someone will pick it up.

Just wondering, how often is it that a sandcast C5 pops up on ebay/cn/amart?

Not often and a Tri color even less.  I see plenty of the later 70's C5's.

$500......ridiculous!

Can't pay me 500 to take any 60mm scope unless it is a Tak.

That's old, blue, and Sears, and cheap.  Isn't that a wedding superstition?

https://philadelphia...5914159746.html

something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue  (that covers a lot of stuff)

A bunch of vintage parts ads hit eBay last night--Towa, Vernonscope, Criterion...  I'm linking to one ad, see last pic for the box of all the stuff that is spread out in different ads by the seller.  Apparently came from a woman who worked at the Adler back in the 60s.  Seems like quality parts for any who might need.

I don't want to spread the word, (as I may bid on a few items), but I don't think a lot of people knew that in the basement of the Adler Planetarium they had an optics lab.  Students, or people, could come in and sign up for a telescope making class, and they would get professional help from the instructors in making their mirrors.  The optics for my 8" f/4.5-f/18 Cassegrain were made there in the 80s.

Yes, and seller has no other items, no reviews, and no information on the Questar in the bottom part of the add. Three more red flags.

The word has been spread. The bidding has begun. The bids will be high.

I don't think it's fraud. I think it's someone who's fairly clueless about how to market and sell things on eBay who doesn't have a digital camera.

The seller has feedback on one sold item. That listing had one small pic that looks like a 'file' photo.

The sandcast version has holes in the forks. This one is a newer one with circle markings in the forks and a larger base. So not a sandcast version.
