There is always some unnoticed room under a bed :winky:

I'm sorry if this has been posted, but it says 5 days old on Craigslist and seller titles it "High quality vintage telescope" boxes look good and one even has a full set of eyepieces in it.

Here's an 8" about f/8 ATM reflector on an ATM EQ mount .... Palmer, Mass....$300

https://worcester.cr...5979484560.html

For $300 I'll take a Meade 826 in ten times better shape any day over that pile....

Yup, everything is homemade, but it does have a Unitron finder.

That Unitron finder makes it worth $300

Is that a 40mm Unitron finder?  Any idea how old it is?

Could be from the 60's or later. slanted letters

It is probably 30mm since the EP is .695 and not much smaller than finder tube. The difference om my 40mm is greater.  Also, the EP on the scope is labeled 12.5 mm and possibly Edscorp. The focuser also looks to be Edmund's. There are a pair of holes between the secondary stalk screws and the focuser maybe for an initial secondary that was incorrectly positioned or replaced with a better stalk.

It is definitely not the 40mm Unitron Finder, it's the 30mm- the one typically found on the 140 and 142 (3" scopes).

It has been.  That's not meant as a rebuke--if you're interested in it (I see you are in PA) scroll back a few pages and you'll see the additional photos someone got the seller to send.  This one is really testing my resolve to focus on a small, one hand grab and go.  Has anyone asked the seller if he'll ship?  I'm guessing he won't if it is still available.

Here's a 60x700mm that someone liked enough to put some work into it. Looks like a Sears Towa but is labeled Scope model 2551. Makers mark is unclear. Interesting mount and box are ATM.

I won this auction, but I just want the cool mount. I don't know anything about the scope. If anyone has any info or wants it, send me a PM...

I think I have sealed a deal on this one. His location is within 20 min of our home town. He told me he will hold it until my wife goes up to see her mother next weekend. It looks like a very nice kit.  :fingerscrossed:

Will someone here please buy this! The price can't get any lower! It's a good deal for a very interesting scope with some history and a collector-quality objective! Nuff said! Get this!!!

I hope you get the Galactic!   As I posted earlier, it's the most complete one that I've seen for sale so far.   Looks well cared-for, too.   Mine comes close to knocking my 6336 off its pedestal as my favorite Royal.

I've wanted that 4" Brandon since the first thread about it -- the dedicated Solar scope.  Bob's practically giving it away.  Can you imagine The Views??  No room in my stable for it -- I just gave away a 4" Unitron -- but surely some CNer would like to own a rare Classic refractor...

The 4" refractor is just not something that would be of use to me no matter how perfect - my 5" f/9 ED is easier to mount and handle, my 3" f/16 is small enough to set up quickly, my 90mm f/16 will perform as well as any 4" for all practical purposes and the intended targets. Even so, I am so tempted..

I was a "fill-up" away from the road trip, NH to SE PA when a 4" Polaris popped up at a price I could not refuse.

I'm still tempted every time it re-appears, but also have no room.  And, I need to trim down the herd.

Hope you get it Gerald. Hope my information on this scope pushed you over the edge  .

I believe I see the objective for the 25X finder scope in the middle wooded accessory box with the lens facing up. There should be a marked 25X eyepiece for that finder scope. Control rods are below the box. Hope you can get more pics from the seller. If so, PM me if you like and I can tell you is anything is missing etc.

I have an earlier version from around the late 1960 time frame. Positively my Galactic objective is one of my top 2 or 3 out of all of my way too many 76mm scopes of any focal length period. Outstanding figure!!

I have reported it as well along with all the other items they are selling this way. Quite a few. Item location says it's coming from Illinois USA with free shipping but it's actually in Roma Italy and they will only do a bank transfer of funds ummm...No thanks.

Yes, there 11 pages of fraudulent items for sale.  I suspect a valid account was hijacked as I've seen many times before.  I notified the page owner of the hack to his/her account.

Well, that does it for me.   You can't trust it even if it's from the U.S.A.   Maybe it time to just buy telescopes from Nigeria when they show up. :bangbang:  :bangbang:  :bangbang:  :whee:

Epilog:  I received an e-mail from e-bay warning me that a seller's account with whom I'd recently communicated, was hacked by a third party.  They are working with the account owner to resolve the issue and I should not buy or pay for anything currently on auction. I should also keep an eye on my own account for suspicious activity given I communicated with the account owner.

Those 5 black dots in photo six add some value to this one.
