put me on the list of "never finding M57" also...  :-)   probably will be one of the first things I punch in if I get a Goto mount!  I know its out there somewhere..  My amateur hunting skills with no real reference on coordinates other than Safari on the tablet sometimes makes me think I'm out on a Snipe hunt!

There is a possibility of a launch from Wallops Island this evening, around 8:04PM.

Will the skies be cloudy?

Scott

Good looking Downy Woodpecker  Had a Purple Finch in the tray feeder. It was getting dark and he was staying low feeding contently he stayed on the tray for quite a while, so I could be certain he was a Purple Finch and not a House Finch.

High winds scrubbed the Sounding rocket launch again tonight NASA says same time on the 11th for the next try. Brings back the heady times back in the 60's Mercury, Gemini, Apollo when we would sit for hours waiting to see how long the hold would go on. Ah... makes me feel like a kid again.   Have fun in the Kingdom.

Had our first hummingbird this morning... a young lady.   Yesterday we thought we had a turkey under one of the feeders but on a closer look it was a guinea hen.  I think it belongs to a place down the road from us.  Good place for it.  My wife had a pair years ago when she had chickens.  Irritating birds..  both in attitude and noise.

Himself and The Moose are spending time together this week The Moose's real owner is back in town. I'm sure he will accompany me on some evening and early morning strolls the next few days.  A few weeks ago my son had planned on taking  Lady Elaine and Himself out to Davinci's for a meal, he hadn't made reservations and when we arrived there was  a 2 hr. wait to be seated so we ended up at Pub 99... A choice that will forever be remembered on may list of bad choices. Their steaks must be provided by Alpo....    won't be repeating that... ever.

I had a gaggle of deer visit on 5/7/21 at 7AM.   One sure looks like like a rear leg has been injured.

Hasn't been much other than pets and tree rats around lately. LINK

It was limping for sure.,I haven't seen any critters other than a porkie.,Got a heck of a squadron of Bluejays along with the other birdies.,At 5:30 this morning they were bombarding each other at the feeder.,

I got this guy pilfering the little birdies feeder hanging on Miss Peg's window.,He was joining us for lunch.,The feeder is about 3ft. from me and he camera.,I could get some good shots here if I wash the window and mount the camera.,

The Moose's owner my son Greg decided today would be a great day stoke up his smoker and prepare a tomahawk steak. I guess he felt bad about the burnt offering Pub 99 me a few weeks ago. All I can say Greg is you smoke one heck of a steak. Yes, Moose got the bone.

Tomahawk on a smoker... I bet that was as good as it looked!  Not many places cut that way around here.  Once a year I’ll splurge and do a prime rib and I always used to head to a place in your neighborhood...  Bourque’s.  You could always count on getting what you were paying for.

haven’t been there in years...

You know where he picked it up. You're right about the neighborhood. Bourque's is about a mile from the Cider House. I can't ever remember being disappointed by their meat. Still waiting to check the rocket launch off the bucket list. Be well.

The Cider House has been busy Springifying its self so I dropped a couple of Begonias in the window box for good measure and shot a couple of other Cider House angles along with a Hairy woodpecker leaving reverse braille messages in my lilac bush.

I don't know how to break this latest sounding rocket launch update to you guys. but the launch tower was in a accident today. A service vehicle collided with it. That means no launch until Friday.

Do you mean clear of traffic on the launch pad, between now and then?

Gee Grey...  I don't know if some outfit that can't route ground vehicles around the rocket safely should be launching rockets at all.  Especially if we're somewhat downrange.  I blew a good bird pic this morning.  I was watching the news and had the iPad in my lap and clicked over to the feeder we have a web cam on and there was a purple finch on one side and the house finch on the other bath facing the camera so you could clearly see the difference.  By the time I told my wife what was going on and thought to click the button to do a picture capture the purple finch gone.  The only way it could have been better if there was a pine grosbeak also there  :-)  We had one here a couple of years ago.

no sign of the hummer again..  probably on her way to Dave's.  We've got very little blossoming yet unlike you Grey, down in the temperate zone.

looking at the forecast, I may try a farm night tomorrow. CDS looks good for us.   Hopefully the ticks aren't as active at night.  I was working over there yesterday and I got hammered with them.  Last year it wasn't nearly as bad as that.  Full combat gear if I go over today mowing.  I think I will make a couple of passes around where I set up with the mower set on scalp, that should rock their world!

I've a lot of gardening to do yet. Buried some seeds lettuces, carrots, beans, peas along with some mammoth sunflower seeds. The only plants in now are Brussels sprouts I think I got it right they're planted green side up ... Right?  Lady Elaine's flower pots are still awaiting their occupants for the season. I still have to wait 2 or 3weeks for the tender plants. Seed potatoes are scheduled for delivery this week... they are going above ground under a thick layer of straw. This is harder than shoveling snow confused1.gif

We had frost here this morning...  peas are in but that’s about it other than wildflowers.  We just do a little kitchen garden here now.  The ground is just so far away nowadays, and no, I’m not getting taller...  Now loading up the mower to kill some ticks at the farm.

I did a town trip today and picked up a new feeder.,no takers yet. I lost my brakes right at home. Got the groceries unloaded and called AAA .It was gone 2 hours later. My mechanic says Tuesday at the latest.,fingers crossed.,

I stopped at Tucks for a Lobster roll and got plenty of chow at Hannafords so we won't starve stranded out here in the wilds of the Kingdom..

I'm still waiting for the moon to show up for a few pics.,Best2all

Frank is doing double duty.,

Don't you just hate it when the brakes don't. Two years ago I was leaving the Jetport in So. Portland when the brake petal didn't brake...E brake worked fine so, the grey man drove the car home on regular roads instead of the interstate using just the E brake. Most likely an unwise move, even drove it to my mechanic the next day.

At least it got me home.,I was literally in my yard.,I had backed down to the door.,all was good.,I pulled forward a bit.,hit the brake and the pedal went to the floor..It broke in the same exact place the tractor broke.,right on the rubber mats.,hhummm.,

Watched  Jupiter rise this morning from my recliner.,Forecast says showers then clearing.,I need a nap.,

Right after I posted last the first one showed up.,Have seen male and female.,waytogo.gif .,
