-5°F at 3AM during the Ripley's and The Greyman's morning tour. The Moon was as bright as the LED streetlights it was competing with, washing all but the brightest of their celestial rivals from the sky. Not a skeeter in sight. Earlier my son called and said he was going to through the Donner Pass in the northern Sierra Nevada's about now. That almost made this mornings trek in Maine seem tame in comparison. Bundle-up and stay warm in the Kingdom.

-5 here also…. We’ll be keeping both the pellet stove and wood stove busy for the next few days trying to keep the fuel gauge afloat on the oil tank. Winds were still so we had a bit of inversion here with a layer of wood smoke to haze up the skies..
Dave.. driving into Industry that view from the breakwater is always a treat.

Wow! Dave. The last I knew that Johannes Vermeer painting ca.1660 "Maid with milk jug" was hanging in room 10 at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. I never pegged you as a patron of the fine arts. Wonderful choice. Can we see more of your collection?

I missed the Milkmaid entirely Grey... I was too busy lusting over that nice clean firewood. At -6 with a nice afternoon breeze my priorities shift a bit. I even pulled the shade over the telescope window to save heat.

There…. Just hit -20 here. That’s enough for me. I opened the driveway at the farm last week in prep for doing some sapping so it can warm up anytime.

Dave, your Mom was very talented. You're very fortunate to be able to showcase her art. Quite an eclectic collection gracing your walls. Thanks for taking the time to share it. The only "artist" arising from my family are my granddaughter the welder and my ex-SIL who worked as a commercial artist and serious amateur with works on display, at one time, in the capital in Washington DC. My own artwork has only ever been publicly shown on select boy's room stall walls at the old LHS ca.1966-69. Marks a Lot Magic Marker was my medium of choice.
We only got to -16 at 7AM so far. Down from -14 at 4 AM, when Ripley did her morning tour and I supervised.
Stay well by friend!
