If you've ben following my posts of late, that's the context.....

A NexStar 8 GPS XLT is on it way. I just couldn't help myself. Great price (I could care less about the new software, I use StarryNight Pro as a Mac user anyway). I immediately looked at the weather forecast this week end - rain!!!!

"Thank you, thank you very much" (he said in his best Elvis impression).

Pics and story to follow as I get it and start playing with it. When it got right down to it, between the Advanced Series and GPS, ease of use was the bottom line for me (I know aperture rules, but my NS 5 GoTo has spoiled me). To each his own...

:jump:

PS: Guess I need to update the sig below.

I'm so excited I am replying to myself - I want to talk to someone! My scope comes in less than 48 hours. Oh boy. well, not to put too fine a point on it - tomorrow is going last all day!

How do you cope with the waiting?

Congrats Astromacus!!

How do you cope with the waiting?

Your best bet is to take the next two days off from work, grab a chair by the window, and will the UPS guy to show up early :poke:

It won't do you any good to go to work, as you will be thinking of only one thing.

Pay no attention to rosy weather forecasts either. As you will have one of the rarest early spring storms that comes on with no warning and lasts for a week kind of events!

All tongue in cheek, of course!

Here's to a speedy UPS guy and great weather in 48 hours!

I am currently teaching a class I've taught 20 times now at this university. I can go in and teach it great while all the time thinking of something different!! I teach the day the scope comes - TH. So that day will go quick, I hope. $50 shipping from astronomics and since they are close to me I got two shipping for that cost! But Wednesday!! Whew!! and no NCAA games to keep me distracted. It's going to be hard. I think I'll read the pdf manual again. :)

PS: I checked - it's supposed to rain this week end!! We'll see...
