Glad to announce the release of KStars v2.7.4 for Windows 64bit. This version is built a more recent Qt (5.8) and the latest KF5 frameworks for Windows bringing more features and stability.

This release brings in many bugs fixes, enhancements for limited-resources devices, and improvements, especially to KStars premier astrophotography tool: Ekos. Windows users would be glad to learn that they can now use offline astrometry solver in Windows, thanks to the efforts of the ANSVR Local Astrometry.net solver. The ANSVR mimics the astrometry.net online server on your local computer; thus the internet not required for any astrometry queries.

After installing the ANSVR server and downloading the appropriate index files for your setup, you can simply change the API URL to use the ANSVR server as illustrated below:

In Ekos align module, keep the solver type to Online so it would use the local ANSVR server for all astrometry queries. Then you can use the align module as you would normally do. This release also features the Ekos Polar Alignment Assistant tool, a very easy to use spot-on tool to polar align your mount.

missing ordinal 385 in Qt5Network.dll

Sorry about that, please download again. I believe it was a packaging issue.

Yeah it works now.

Need to set up Indi Server and all of that to test this out. All of my devices seem to be properly supported though, so that's a plus!

Setup INDI Server on Raspberry PI or where? It's possible to use ASCOM to INDI bridge, but I don't know if that works for all drivers and it's not as feature-rich as the native implementation. But on Raspberry PI, everything supported.

Can I use this to automate imaging without INDI?

Only if you use ASCOM to INDI bridge, so it will create the INDI stuff for you.

Thanks.

If KStars loses connection to the INDI Server, it crashes.

Not everything. I'm having issues using my Flip Flat and Focuslynx on RPi3 INDI server. Mainly an issue with the devices being recognized by USB, I think. Otherwise, I'd say RPi3 INDI server is perfect for remote control!

Everything connects perfectly with INDI server on laptop  :snoopy:

Ciao,

Mel

Thanks for the report, just made a new 2.7.5 release that should hopefully fix this issue.

Please report any INDI issues either to the Github issues page or INDI Forum.

Is there a way to control ccd camera gain and offset in KSTARS? I assume setting it on the Ascom driver on the windows indi server will do the trick, but being able to change this on variable gain camerasome would be nice, especially when setting up sequences for both lrgb and narrowband.

As you pointed out, it depends on the driver. In INDI, it depends if the driver offers this property or not, it's not something universal.

Yes hopefully very soon we'll make an announcement, stay tuned.
