Here is a 2x2 mosaic of the Heart Nebula that I made in narrowband (SHO).  I shot 18 600 second subs per filter per panel, so 216 subs (before rejection) in total which took me about 36 hours over the course of 8 nights between August 2016 and Jan 2017.  Images were taken from my home in central Maryland.

Gear -
OTA: Orion 8" f3.9 Newt
Camera: SBIG STF-8300m w/ Astrodon 5nm filters
Mount: Orion Atlas Pro
Guiding: Orion Magnificient Mini with SSAG
Image acquisition with Sequence Generator Pro, PlateSolve2, Cartes du Ciel, and PHD2

Congratulations Matt.  I am in central Maryland as well but I know that the skies at my house will not allow me to take exposures for that long.

Yeah the light pollution here is terrible.  The 5nm bandpass on the Astrodon narroband filters is really really helpful.  I can go to 30 min subs in Ha without much sky background.  The OIII is always a PITA though - especially if there is any moon out.  I'm debating whether or not to trade up my OIII filter for the 3nm version with my tax return this year

Well done Matt - 36 hours is a lot of time to spend taking data

& you must have taken a lot more time to process it.

cheers

Allan

Awesome photo- congratulations, Matt !  Kind of reminds me of Hubble images of the Eagle Nebula with all the dark gas clouds and pinpoint stars. Wow-only an 8" aperture.  I need darker skies.
