It's just a clock drive, not a Go-To.  You mount it on an EQ wedge and use the setting circles to aim it.  The clock drive "tracks" in RA only.

...or did I misunderstand your question?

Yup. You did. :) There are supposed to be two motors on the old mounts. It was to cut down on backlash. There doesn't seem to be one in the big squarish hole at the top of the base. I didn't know if that changed at some point, like as an experiment or some third-party mod, or if this mount is just missing one of them. They did burn out from time-to-time. He didn't mention that there was a power cord.

I'd call, but the only phone I have is the one here at work...so that's probably a no-no, and I tried Messages on a Mac, but it didn't go through. Must not have an iPhone.

Oh, no problem. Thanks for answering at all! I really only need the tripod and wedgie, but that set of forks looks to be in nice shape...other than the motor question.

Ooo. I'd like to have one of the wee Celestrons someday, but I'm starting to collect too much stuff!

That C8 is NICE! The 60mm Unitron, listed as a model 128 is actually a model 114.

I dunno, GA.  There's an awful lot of strangeness in the case, too.  Is that the drawtube!?  shocked.gif   I don't knock the sellers on this one, since it wasn't theirs, it was inherited.  Regardless, the lens looks okay.  If I had the dough I'd probably snatch it.  But alas...

$300 is not at all a bad price considering that there is a Unihex and it looks like the four original eyepieces, standard drawtube, and prism star diagonal are included. The short drawtube in the dew shield in the box is the one for the Unihex. I have no idea what they have done to th finder!? Note that there is a significant ding in the main tube.

That 114 in Dallas has been for sale for almost a year.  At one point they were asking something like $800-900 for it.  I think they thought they had a 128.  Shoot, maybe they still do for all I know.

There was a later model of OT C8 that did in fact have a single motor.  It's covered in Uncle Rod's SCT Buyer's Guide.

Questar in the Baltimore area. The guy is accepting offers due to the coatings deteriorating.

Very up front for a craigslist ad. Not many people would list the problem like this guy.

He also looks to have a nice workshop!

Oh wow! Didn't know that. I ended up putting an app TextMe on my iPad and was able to text to a non-iPhone and I got the stuff! I'll drive up and pick it all up this weekend.

I hate going to Uncle Rod's guide. It has pictures of C-14s and that makes me drool. :)

Thanks!

Bob
