Seeing stayed consistent for about an hour so I tried mono last night.  My first attempt with the 290MM.

Cooled scope with primary fans.
Good seeing, good transparency, no clouds, no dew.

Jove at 45 degrees and 44 arcsec.  Captured at 135-175 fps, best 30% of 3 RGB sets with no barlow.

cheers, DJ

Very nice as usual DJ!  I was out at the same time and posted a capture from a half-hour later, nice to have something to compare it to.

Looks like we should have another chance tonight (fingers crossed).

Thanks much!  Yeh, so far tonight looks nice...I think the last really good nite maybe of the last 2 weeks of stable air.  And we are treated to a rising GRS around 21:30pm.  Fingers crossed - here's to good luck for lucky good seeing!  DJ

DJ, excellent image! Colors and details are impressive. I had the fans going last night, but got clouded in again. Congratulations on the new camera and the results. Thanks for posting

Regards,

Steve

This is making me wonder about putting fans on my Mewlon 250...

Thanks all :)

Hi Paul, that would be interesting to do.

Generally, if I shut off my rear fans the image will destabilize some and turning the fans on again will clarify the image again (very similar to the Newt guys' reports on CN).  And with fans on I can see the slightly radial air pattern on a defocused star.  I've done simple air flow tests, and with the CFF, a good portion of the air also flows around the primary sweeping it of any bad air stagnation (which I presume is coming from radiative cooling of the frontside of the primary as nighttime temps continue to drop some).

cheers, DJ

That's a nice image given only being at 45 degrees. Well done.

Daryll, looking forward to some of your images!  I was wondering where you went!  Hey 2 weeks is long enough to take a drive up north to increase those planet elevations to wee overhead! :D  cheers, DJ
