A rather silly question and expecting a reply from the learned members.

While using H-a filter with an OSC camera (DSLR or CCD), I understand that I have to take a sequence of photographs without the filter and also another sequence with the filter and then combine them during post processing. Is my understanding correct? I have recently purchased a Ha filter and I am waiting for a clear sky to use it.

Clear sky.

That is correct if you would like to make a HaRGB image, ie combine Ha with normal color.
Ha is monochrome image and in osc camera you only get photons in red pixels.
