Worth 300, 4mm extra aperture, likely very good optics.

The seller of that one tells me the serial number is a 7-DP-6953, yet the single image (pirated from Wikipedia) shows a Standard, not a Duplex.  I'm awaiting more images, but until then I'll assume fraud.

The good news is that that stock photo must have scared away lots of buyers, because the real deal was outstanding, from a reputable seller with a scope with real provenance.  To be continued next week...

A shame you do not. You would have been able to  ompare your scope to others there.

This might be something or not, no pictures. Antique with what sounds like several eyepieces. Do the India repros allow for different eyepieces?

Well I picked up that Sears Tower Mdl. 6333 off my local CL. Must be older than I thought as the scope is definitely a Towa but the wooden box outside is a work of art (and looks more like a 75mm scope box). Fully finished (mahogany?), constructed with tight little screws and custom metal corner pieces (open lattice pattern not just all metal corners). Still it uses fitted Styrofoam end pieces to lock all the parts. Nice bonus as inside it had a separate box for one of those universal camera adapters with the off-axis crosshair setup. Very long 6x30 finder, 3 eyepieces, Sun and Moon filters, the long flexible slo-mo cables, good condition wood legs and eyepiece triangle, all the mount is there I think, plus the original instruction pamphlet is in very good condition. Scope is a pale pastel greenish brown (color is hard to describe). Not perfect as the dewshield has a bent section and the focuser was screwed down miss-aligned. Still the optics only had dust on them with no other issues. Not bad for $10.

Very nice scope and in excellent shape.  You even got one of those great 22mm green Kellner eyepieces.

Very nice find!!!

The Sears bronze Tower 60mm x 900mm Model 6333 is listed as now being supplied with a free $12.97 Camera Adapter (4K6311) in the Sears 1964 Spring/Summer general catalog. It is not listed that way before or after that catalog. So that is a good indicator of the date of your new find.

Nice looking Focal spotting scope. I like the mount on this one.

I picked up one of those in REAL bad shape a couple of years ago. Decided to have some fun on the restore. The mount IS amazingly smooth.....especially once I got the old sticky grease removed and replaced.

Wow, thanks. In 1964 I was in HS working on my stellar photometer project for the 1965 state science fair. I think that is the oldest scope in my collection right now although my Cave 12" Convertible is from the same approximate era.

Thanks, Terra. I think I can fix everything on the scope except the small bend in the dew shield. The only thing I can think of is to get it shortened about 8-10mm as it is unfixable. Hate to think about having a new one made and trying to match that paint.
