I'm going to paint a 60mm refractor OTA blue as a guidescope for my 2080. Does anyone know of a paint color that will match the 2080?

Augustus -this was posted on CN back a bit.

A member posted ,"I read somewhere that this comes really close - KRYLON HIGH GLOSS FAST DRYING SPRAY: REGAL BLUE, COLOR #1909. Hope it helps"

I had not seen the color or compared it to whats on my own LX-3, just hearsay.

Others have suggested going to Lowe's or Home depot and have them match it ,or Automotive paint supply store and have em mix it up in a rattle-can.

Good luck with that project!

Lookie here, Augustus...

refractor11a.jpg

I had to repaint some areas, after some modification, and I used this...

It was an absolutely perfect match, for mine...

Now, that image was taken with the camera's flash enabled, therefore it's brighter.

Now, I know that mine is not a Meade, rather a semi-vintage Tanzutsu instead, but it is the shade of darker blue used in the telescope-making industry.

This version looks to be slightly lighter...

I would get both, and test-spray both on a piece of card or other, let dry, then hold them up to the Meade's tube, and pick the one that's closest.

This 2080, under indoor lighting, is darker than royal blue.  It's more of a navy if not midnight blue...

I tried  both the royal and regal blues but found a closer match with the dupli-color perfect match brand under the ford section a closer match, but i dont have the code or shade.

I had searched the Internet last year trying to find out what the blue color is and found this... https://stargazerslo...&comment=392881

Looks like it may be the same color as the '81 Ford Mustang.
