you would not understand until you looked through a Zeiss 60mm. Most sought after scope in that size in the world. This is going to make a good thread. Thanks.

That Zeiss is way over priced in my opinion.

That is true. Worth about 1/2 that with a tripod.

I saw that Asahi earlier today and since it's complete it's kind of tempting. I could have bought one about a mile from me for $100 less but choose not to because it had no box and only the 20mm eyepiece.

That Zeiss keeps coming up for sale. That tells you it's too high! Same for the giant binoculars in the grey box behind it.

Not an acceptable substitute, IMO.  The 9VR is terrific, the 99VR and 999VR have manufacturing concessions that have impaired the performance of the original.  Search the old threads if interested, it's been discussed in detail here before.

12-1/2" Cave Cass.

might be a neat project for someone.

It's too big for me, but if that mount went with it, I'd be at the guys house already!  lol.gif

Having someone make the secondary would cost more than was is being asked for the whole scope.

I would buy it if I did not have enough Unitrons already.  I doubt that will last the afternoon.

That is a Meade RG mount. I don't think Cave ever got the optics right in the Cass's they made...

I don't see this one lasting long.   Looks like a reasonable price to me with a Byers drive.

Just picked this one up.  They were offering a 25% discount with a $25 donation to the cancer society, so counting the $25 donation, I got it for $325.
