No link.  But sky research by Gebelein.  8 inch catadioptric f/2.9 at estate sale in Austin' Tx. Just search "telescope" on Austin craigslist.  It will be under an estate sale.  They are asking $300

Ill probably stop by there tomorrow to look around.  This looked like fun, but everything was horribly overpriced on Thursday.  50% off is getting closer, but I think they are going to have a lot of stuff left after this estate sale.  The Sky Research telescope is maybe worth $150 IMHO.  You got to love their ads back in the day which stated.....Optical Window Included!  Oh boy frown.gif  O the mirror that was pre-perforated with a 2" hole so you could convert it to a cassegrain, LOL.  Yes, I fell for one of these when I was younger.

Criterion Dynamax 6 with Golden Pyramid --> https://www.shopgood...m/Item/43854435

Serial Number is 2276.  The tripod comes in the carry bag.  Seems to have been well maintained, and would make a great-looking Classic display.

Criterion Dynamax 6 with Golden Pyramid

. . . do they suffer from the same problems as the Dynamax 8?

I certainly wouldn't trust it.

Fill it with Tannerite, take it to the country for target practice.

Short Answer:  YES   Longer Answer:  There have been a couple of DX6 owners who reported decent optical performance -- especially compared to the DX8.  I posted it as a complete Display Scope, but I sure wouldn't buy it as my main or only scope!!

I had one, way too poorly engineered, poorly constructed, over hyped in ads such as the ultra alt side bearings that were plumbing toilet bowl horns,  just terrible. NOte that these bogus 8" can literally only use about 5.75" of the mirror! The rest of the mirror edge never gets to the focal plane.  I paid $50 I think because it had about $100 in eye pieces as I recall.  There are strings in CN if you search, probably some of mine detailing the construction...if you call it construction.

8" equatorial reflector, here also in Conn, Edmund?

4.25" old Edmund, here Amherst, MA, nice

6" Dynoscope, here western, MA, $50

Tempted, but too much of a drive.

I reduced it in response to some messages.  Now the consensus is that it is priced very fairly!  Current ad should update soon.

Don't know if this is any good, but sure is a cute travelscope set.  Is that a rotary focuser?
