I made some signs for our local observing group that have been well received, so I thought I's see if there was any interest among CNers.

These are 12" x 19" (305 mm x 457 mm) reflective signs on a flexible magnetic backing, like a refrigerator magnet. The reflective material is the same brightness as your car's license plate.

I can do custom artwork as well for a reasonable fee.

Signs would be $39.99.

What do you think?

So no interest? Price too high? Not a useful product? Concerns about quality? Poor description? Help me out here, folks.

Good idea, and very practical, but sales might be limited to just organizers of these events. I think the price is good for the size and material they are made of.

However...a "Parking for Zeiss Only" sign for the carport, or "Dobsonians Do It in the Dark" for the bumpers of the more juvenile among us might have a higher sales volume. Just some ideas.

Yes; I get some chuckles from this decal on my Jeep.

Now THAT is funny. The picture definitely fits the caption...a double-double entendre.

Just a comment from someone involved in a star party (Oregon Star Party).... We already have several signs made up from prior years, placed as cars approach the "entrance" of the field. So while your signs are quite professional, we already have many signs made up and have used them for years.

Now what might interest folks is a sign that indicates that severe car damage or personal injury may occur if you drive up with your lights on and ruin our night vision ;-)

Bill,

You travel all the way out here for Oregon Star Party? Is it to experience the near-Martian landscape with orange dirt and dust devils?

I'd also have to agree with your threat of serious vehicular damage or bodily harm being a good deterrent to keeping the lights off.

 Nice picture, John -- I see my 20" Obsession in the
background. Maybe your message had a subliminal effect
on me as I've recently ordered a 30" Obsession!

If you could somehow incorporate a 50KW auto-targeting laser into the design, it'd sell very well... :mrevil:

Better yet, would be to make the signs about 20' wide - from concrete.

Seriously, I think you have developed a fine product; the problem is that any sign tends to be ignored by those whose bloodlines come from the shallow end of the gene pool.

This might cost more than $39.99. :)

What is the preferred source for astronomy-related decals / stickers?
