I got the NEAIC-NEAF rate by calling the hotel. $126. It didn't work online by trying to use the code. The woman on the phone did have a bit of trouble finding it until I said "NEAIC-Neaf".instead of just "NEAF".

Online it showed no rooms available for those dates. I was going to try my Hilton Honors code but no luck. You do need to call to get a room it appears.

Look forward to seeing some CNers there. Is there a CN meeting place?

Randall

rms40. i'm sending your post to the hotel so they can look into this,

Randy & all, here is the response from the hotel.

Bob a couple of things to help explain

1. If somebody goes online to book rooms the hotel will show sold out because all the rooms are in your block and the website will only show rooms available to the general public.
2. We are not a Hilton Property so I’m also confused to which website he was on.
3. This is how it is listed in our reservation system – “NEAF, NEAIC, Rockland Astronomy,”
4. IF they want to book online, the block code is “XXX”

I have X-ed out the block code for a few reasons one being i'm not sure what block that is for as we have 4 of them. As always it is best to call the hotel at 845-357-4800 and just tell them it for NEAIC or NEAF.

Well that explains why my Hilton Honors didn't work. I was just confused. I thought Crowne Plazas were part of Hilton. The person at the reservation number was very helpful. No complaints. I want it to be a good show for all of us and the vendors. The more the merrier. I have been booking and buying online since way before that was common. Good to know there is a code for others.

I really recommend the show. I don't spend nearly as much time as I should with other amateurs. It is a great way to meet other amateurs as well as professional astronomers, see a variety of products, meet the manufacturers and vendors.  And, you can buy products at the show or have them shipped to you. It is always better to see a product in person before you buy. This was where I was introduced to Innovations Foresight and their ONAG - on axis guider. It was more than I wanted to spend at the time but after more experience with imaging and guiding, I realized the value. I have one now and love it. Soon I will have a Planewave and I called them recently and they should be at the show as well. It is just a great way to see and evaluate innovative products and get questions answered in person.

Anyone knows where I can get the registration forms for NEAIC 2018? I already have  my confirmation for hotel stay at the Crown Plaza.

I just reserved 2 of the last 3 rooms that Crowne has for NEAIC-NEAF! Only one left - single King bed.

They didn't tell me it was the last room and I got two queens. But, I'm leaving Saturday as well. That could be it.

I’m staying at the Super 8 in Mahwah. I’ve stayed there the past two NEAFs and I have no complaints. I’ll see you at NEAF! I’m thinking about bringing the Lunt 152/DS to the solar party depending on the accessibility to the field.

Hi guys, so there is another issue with the hotel that came to my attention today. It seems that if you call the hotel directly and you get them at a time when they are slammed they will transfer you to the reservation center, if you can tell them you don't want to be transferred, if they do transfer you just hang up and call back and tell them not to transfer you and that you will hold.

You would think that after 13 years they could get this right!!! Sorry for the inconvenience frown.gif

I DID call them at that number - twice!

I got the same story each time from two different people..... "All NEAIC/NEAF rooms are gone, except for 3 with single King beds". I asked about two other discounts I have access to and they told me ALL rooms were gone for those dates.

As of 1:42 this afternoon there were still a handful of rooms at the CP for "some" of the days

FYI on the Crowne Plaza hotel bookings, I just booked a double queen room last night at (what I presume is) the NEAIC/NEAF rate of $126+tx (called the above quoted number and declined being forwarded to reservation line).

They also said there were no king rooms left at the show rate. Which all seems opposite to statements above.

DaveNL

PS. I am a NEAF/NEAIC noob - looking forward to the show.
