I love, love, love that!!! love.gif

(If it was nearby, I’d be makin some room!)

I had the same scope back in 1981 and a 8" in 1980.

The 4" and 10" are still here. That 8" would make a nice set but I'm thinning

Me too! someday I'm going to own one.

The coolest one of all is that custom metallic green Custom Dynascope  here on cloudy nights I

should see if I can find it.

I looked for it and found it but the pictures have been swallowed up in that photobucket

Yes! That is the f/9.8 Vixen achromat. I wonder if the seller understands this? Here's an example.

That actually is in good shape! Rough handling inevitably chips the tube ends and I don't see that. That would clean right up and make a great restoration-to-new project. I would grab that if I were closer.

I'm tempted, but already have one, though not as nice as this (but mine is older, no fork).

Maybe they stuck a fluorite lens in it. I just bought the same OTA for like $350 a while back.  All them Vixens are  good.

Is this it?  This is the OTA I restored for my friend Rich Tenney several years ago.  The metallic green color was his choice.

Technically though it was only the current bidder being repeatedly outbid by the original bidder (automatically) until beating the original's max bid of $200.

Edit: One other thing I noticed, no Zolatone paint. Dunno if that's bc they originally didn't have it, or if it was repainted.

I like that color!   My Dakin 4 will be the darker glossy racing green -- like the vintage MG convertibles that were fun to drive (but maintenance nightmares!).

Shipping is only $29 across the country to me on the left coast. The only one who will be unhappy with the shipping charges on this one will be the seller! rofl2.gif

(I expect the selling price to be high enough to cover the shipping and then some.)

I saw this last night. There is a link to a Youtube video where the seller is trying to explain the scope, and apologize for his lack of knowledge. He does point out wear and scratches on the paint on the tube, probable missing parts (Yes, there are. One slow motion control, at least), etc.

I've sent him a message suggesting he Google Orion Vixen 4" achromat, and explaining why it isn't a fluorite model. I also suggest/urge he take the listing down and repost it with corrections.

I've done this in the past with eBay sellers for erroneous descriptions with mixed results. Most never reply, some thank me and correct it. But I've gotten some replies along the lines of, "I'm going to leave it up and let the bidders decide what it's worth."

Sometimes it's exasperating enough I think of quitting eBay and other peer-peer selling venues, and going back to businesses like Smears and Walls Phargo where I can count on being ripped off!

Oh, I'm not bidding on this one. I just bought the GW Celestar 4 a few months ago, don't need another one at this point. I would *probably* jump on a Celestar 6 if I could manage the expense.

"A&F" 60x910 refractor. This thing looks in every way identical to my Jason. $50, I am glad it's an hour away so I have that excuse to not buy it. It's got the spotter scope eyepiece, which I need for mine, but this thing looks amazing, the mount is pristine.

Seller has responded and said...

Thank you. Several buyers have also indicated that this is not the right model. I will cancel this listing and fix it.

Your feedback is appreciated!

If you're in the mid-atlantic and looking for a good deal on a nice RV-6, this one is worth strong consideration:

https://www.cloudyni...ope-about-1974/

The RV-6 and the C8 are probably the two best deals in a moderate sized scope (typically).
