I was considering that ad this morning, since it's in my travel zone. It's a Focal (Kmart) telescope.  Likely a Circle W.

Unitron Refractor $799 asking price. Looks like a nice complete vintage set up. Not sure what these things are worth though.

That is an early 1960s/late 1950s model 140 at a really excellent price. Especially considering all you are getting with this one.

For $99 you get a field tripod, fork mount, wedge, and, hardest to find of all:  no-tool knobs.*

Still a great deal, if you are willing to find a tube to "part-in," or to part out or cannibalize.  I could use all the above.

* Does someone like Scopestuff sell no-tool knobs for for old, or new, SCTs?

I have an extra set of no-tool knobs that are NOS - still in the packaging.

I don't know if anyone still sells them.  They are US threads and should be easy to find - the hard part would be finding the 2 long ones used for az adjustment.

Seriously?

I bought knobs for both my C8 and my C5 from McMaster Carr.  Easy peasy.

Looks to be around a 1961, as it had the same Dust cap as my 152 had.

That black C5 is a rare bird as they only made a tiny bit of them around 1985 before they stopped making them.

Yeah I saw the Orange one a while back.

The black one is cool - looks like a mini-me of my Super C8+.    gallery_4988_3702_438712.jpeg

Yeah, that C5 is sweet, but I thought OPT went out of business?

I must be confused with another SoCal retailer then.

What a coincindence. A Parks Jovian 90 $250 OBO on eBay https://www.ebay.com...PYAAOSwVtZZ5toR

C8 Super Polaris near Charlotte $825 https://charlotte.cr...6349477123.html

C4.5 w/ Polaris mount and RA drive controller near Miami $285 https://miami.craigs...6349397597.html

Half of what I see these days are these Super C8s, I thought Ed Byers didn't make many? Near Dallas, $600 https://dallas.craig...6350097039.html

Parks 8" near Medford, OR $500 (too much) https://medford.crai...6350160763.html

If that one is "Near Mint", mine must be Newer than New.  Maybe Pre-production.

These are really nice little Newts (Vixen, Japan). I had one and enjoyed it a lot. I only let it go because I like the Kludge 4.5 that I put together better.

Vintage Edmund red Newtonian on beige fork mount in Denver.

I'm also interested in that chrome thing in the background in the first pic.

I forget the specs? 4", 5"? f/7?

Man, I would love to find one of those near me!

I could give it a good home.
