I'm flying out to San Diego next week and thought maybe I could find someway to get the Starliner Out Standing In Its Field, then find a way to freight it back to North Carolina, but then realized San Luis Obispo is 6.5 hours away. No way I'll have the time, unfortunately
The more I've looked at it the more I think its a 14.25" Starliner Newt-Cass, but I don't have any definitive proof.
Bummer. Maybe take the train? Probably the same amount of time, but a more pleasant and productive ride.
I could do this in a couple or 3 weeks, or impose on an old friend who lives up there (and risk losing said friend! ), and ask him if he'd pick it up for me. But probably the best thing would be to wait until after Christmas and contact the seller then. That way there's a reasonable chance someone else might buy it first and save me the trouble! 'Cause I don't have the room or the time to work on one.
I can't see a perforation in the primary, though the pics aren't very good, so I was wondering if it was a kludge from different sources. Be cool if it's a 14.25" instead of a 12.5". The ad says "15 inch", which made me think that's the tube diameter, making the mirror likely a 12.5. It'd behoove whoever buys the thing to find out if there's a Cass secondary with it, because making one would probably not be a lot of fun, if you're not into that sort of thing.
