Hi all,
I am new to the group and would like to get into binoviewing. I am the proud possessor of a TV85(white) and a JMI NGT6. Although I am a big TeleVue fan I am strongly leaning toward the Denkmeier Standard. I am also planning to pair up my TV 8-24 Zoom and possibly my 19mm Pan. Questions: Would it be advisable to go the extra step and get the Den Two or would the Standard suffice and then spend more money on the additional eyepieces?? What other items, outside of eyepieces, will I need to make these binoviewers compatible with my equipment? Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. Looking forward to your replies.
Thank you,
Ed

Hi Ed:

Can't answer your question on the Denk 2 yet, as I don't think any have been sent out. Once they are, I'm sure comparative evaluations will be posted. But, until then, you just have to take your pick.

You will need the OCS for both of your telescopes, or the TV 2X compensator.

People have said that they like the zoom. I've never cared for the zooms, either Cyclops mode or in a binoviewer. They have a wider field at high power than they do at low power, which seems to me exactly the opposite of what would be desirable.

Clear skies,
Jim

Hi ED,
Glad to see you in this group! It's been a while since we talked. I have had the Standard Denkmeiers and now waiting on the Denkmeier Two to be shipped. We had some great views through the TV85 and the Standard Denkmeier with TeleVue Radians. Just received our PortaBall and I am now thinking of weighting the base to accept the binoviewer when it arrives.
