Just a word of caution:  the Covid pandemic has caused a worldwide shortage of many goods, including astronomy equipment.  The fact that a product is “sold out” currently says nothing about its quality.

Agreed. The global shortage says nothing about quality. The theoretical optical design and quality glass do.

I love my Televue and will never probably part with it. Having said that, I would be hard-pressed to spend that much on a new one for visual only. My suggestion is to be patient and look for a used one, it will be worth the wait.
