I have owned both but not at the same time so this is from memory.  Unless size is a factor, it is not really close.  The Morpheus presents a better view.  Not just the wider field, but I thought the 18mm APM was very average for quality of light.  The Morpheus presents a bright, lively field.  The APM field was just “flat” ... not with regards to field curvature ... with regards to brightness.

Like the 17.5mm Morpheus, the 18mm APM was sharp to the edge in my APO, but there was no pop to the view.  I also saw a little edge of field brightening in the APM.

You're already sold your Morpheus 17.5mm after 2 weeks hitting the shelves? crazyeyes.gif confused1.gif

What are you asking?  "You already sold your 17.5mm after two weeks?" or "You're already sold on your 17.5mm Morpheus after two weeks?"

No, I have not sold my 17.5mm Morpheus ...  nor will I.  It is still listed in my signature for a reason.   The 18mm APM is the eyepiece I sold - because I found it very bland.

If you meant the 2nd question then the answer is "yes" - I'm sold on the 17.5mm Morpheus as another excellent focal length in the Morpheus line.  It has all the great qualities of the 6.5mm and 9mm focal lengths in particular.  I've been using the Morpheus eyepieces for several years and it doesn't take long to see that the 17.5mm is as good as the others.

"You already sold your 17.5mm after two weeks?" is (was) my question.
