Maybe the OSP won't be so crowded compared to the Aug 2017 event, which occurred during the Total Solar Eclipse....   cool.gif

While it may not be as crowded, we certainly hope that some of the "first timers" who experienced the TSE at OSP return for the dark skies!

Hi there,

The Oregon Star Party Committee is pleased to announce that we will be opening registration on May 10 at 8:00 AM (PDT). Please visit the registration page at www.oregonstarparty.org (http://oregonstarpar...registration-2/). This year’s star party takes place near the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower.  With little interference from the moon it the meteor shower could put on a good show. Bring your lounge chair.  We don’t expect to sell out in four hours like last year, but if we do sell out at some point during the registration period (regular registration closes on July 6, 2018) we will set up a waiting list like last year. Also, there will be no on-site registration if we sell out.

Finally, along with registration opening we will announce the winner of the artwork contest.  We thank everyone who sent in artwork to the contest.

Clear skies.

The Oregon Star Party Committee

Please note:  Due to circumstance beyond our control we are unable to offer pre-sold meals for OSP 2018 at this time.  The OSP committee is working diligently to resolve the issues with our food vendor but we felt that we could no longer postpone the opening of registration.  Those wanting to purchase meals are asked to register for them now so we have a count, but you will not be charged for them at this time.

Finally, the winner of the artwork contest is Carolyn Nissen.  Congrats!!!

Generators Are A Go!!

As in the past, the Generator policy is dependent on United States Forest Service fire restrictions.  The decision is based on several factors: the dryness of the forest area around Indian Trail Spring, the 14-day forecast prior to OSP, whether they have closed forest to the public and/or if level IV restrictions are in place.  There is one change for this year’s star party: generators cannot be placed directly on the ground/vegetation.

Generators must meet all US Forest Service requirements and are permitted to operate from Noon to 7 PM.
All generators must be within 100 feet of the graveled roads (800 & 802).  External generators need to be placed on a non-flammable surface (i.e. fire-retardant tarp).

All generators must have spark arrestors

Please remember generators intrude on your neighbor’s peace and enjoyment of the natural outdoors.
Service providers (food, espresso, shower truck, and OSP operations) are permitted between 8 AM and 2 AM.

Medical generators are only allowed in the RV approved areas next to the graveled roads and only to extend as needed to recharge medical equipment and only by special permit.

Generator policy is subject to change at ANY TIME.

Hope to see you all next week at OSP!
