That Selsi has been shown several times. It's been for sale for a very long time. Maybe a year. I believe it's been on ebay too.

Nice scope, worth the asking price I'll bet

Just saturated market I think - it will eventually sell (I'll give in :) - the legs on that tripod are the best I've seen on that size scope. It's a Vixen OTA essentially so no doubt an excellent objective.

The last Selsi 339 that sold had a DK/KD (Dai-ichi Kogaku) OTA with a Vixen-style label on the tube -- same as this one.  The mount has elements of Kenko (similar to the KES GEM) and Hino -- the axes are longer/taller than the current China clones.  If I had the time, I'd buy it just to test the optics & mechanics -- see how they compare with the Towa 339.

Is the 339 just an accident? This scope has not much to do with that classic Towa 339. This seems more Carton than Towa. Didn't Carton do late 70s early 80s Vixen?

Here is a Vixen 80L, you can see this Selsi as an early version of it.

I knew I had seen that Selsi 339 on ebay. It's listed as a 330

Bigger and better photos and it's not a Towa.

I remember seeing that sticker that looks like Vixen's but couldn't remember the maker.

Look at the last photo. Marked DK.

https://www.ebay.com...98AAOSwsXFZGhO0

Oh and it's $50 dollars cheaper!

I really want it but there is just no space for it right now :/ The mount is similar to one on Meade scopes of the late 80s but much cruder - Chinese. It worked but it was ugly!

Well! I was noticing the legs appear to have only two fixed positions. That's sort of a demerit for my usage patterns. On the other hand they'd be really solid.

My guess it that it is better than the Towa, both optically and mechanically.

Cave 6" lowered in price by $250.  Still about 2x what it's worth, since it has straps instead of rotating rings, and no clock drive:  https://inlandempire...6519113942.html

DANGER, danger, Will Robinson! I started to get excited about this Merz scope just up the road in Columbus, until I did some research. The pictures are from an CN ad by Xavier. Not sure what to think?

https://www.cloudyni...telescope-1890/

So if interested, probably best to check with Xavier first.

Now for a new in its box wrapped in plastic, a Sears No. 4-6337A:

And a cute little Selsi:

That's shipping from Europe, guys.  Plus a pile of paperwork for the seller to fill-out for customs.   Their customs procedures aren't as "simple" as ours.
