Being an optician I guess it is habit of looking at reflections.....like the one on the cabinet window while photographing the above C8. Nice strong counterweight setup.....real nice

Did you put an extension on the focus knob or is that just a newer design than mine?

I did nothing to the focuser. It’s the way I got it.

It does look longer.  Here is the focuser knob on my orange C8.  That being said, mine is later production with the plastic secondary holder.Resized_20171103_144802.jpeg

Mine is a '77 -- which I bought new -- and it's identical to Terra's.

Makes sense.  I bought mine new around '79 or '80.

Getting back to dust covers for an original C8... lol

I'm going to try this:

https://www.amazon.c...=8-2&th=1&psc=1

And then use some sticky-back foam insulation strips on the inside of the cap to create a snug fit.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Wow. What an interesting idea. Never knew such a thing existed. Seems that some of these are made from more flexible plastic than others. My only concern would be that the plastic that the flexible ones are made from might possibly out-gas onto the corrector plate, over time.

Keep us posted!  grin.gif

I think the outgassing from the cap will be far less than the outgassing from the owner.
