It's just a file. .Xlsx pretty sure that's a common Microsoft document.

Well I still cant access it. In any case, took my #22016 apart. Interpolating from the old list on post #47 mine would have been built around August 1981. On the back of my mirror though is the date November 18 1980. Obviously that must be when the mirror was made and not the complete scope. So 22016 was probably made and shipped sometime in early 1981.

I have two USA built Astroscans.

The earliest is #3861, paper? decal over secondary rather than plastic piece, chrome eyepiece tube, white paper for serial number, no made in... around bolt holes, focus knobs with fewer ridges than later ones, came with a black 1 1/8” eyepiece which I gave to a friend, had the original box bust lost it when I moved

The second Astroscan is #45407 on white paper, has the later plastic piece on the optical window with the patent number, the focus knobs with more ridges, black eyepiece holder, the big decal on the telescope “Made in the USA”

I purchased this Astroscan from Craigs List a couple days ago.  It's one of the nicest I've seen. Collimation is close to Spot-On. Lastly, included the Original Accessory Catalogs, Star Chart, and "Invoice" with purchase date.
- Serial number: 46183, White Label.
- MADE IN USA: around bolt holes.
- Draw tube: Black.
- Date of purchase: 05/28/1996
- Original Price: $329.00 (my purchase did not include the tote bag)

Hello, I'm a newbie. I  have a Astroscan 2001 s/n 43444 (original owner). hand written number on orange dot. It was a gift to me in the summer of 1991 ( i will verify exact date). Cost was $230 us. Mail ordered from New Jersey. Black focuser and 2 RKE eye pieces. Last time observing i noticed very bad distortion ( coma?)  I was observing Venus very low to the horizon. Not sure is the "SEEING" was very poor or if my 30 year old friend needs a tune up. I call Scientific Direct and was told that they no longer offer astroscan tune ups. I saw the link to Gary S's instructions for how to collimate a non- adjustable scope. Might try that after i verify the collimation.

Marked made in USA around upper carry strap hole.

I owned a total of 5 AstroScans over the years.  I now have one I like and just got another one!  So now it's 2 total LOL!

Here is the info on each one:

#1.  A regular AstroScan made in the USA.  Has a black draw tube.  The SN is:  48564  on a White tag.

#2.  Deluxe Model AstroScan  made in China.  SN is:   M08016 on a Yellow tag.  Black draw tube.

Not sure about the original cost on either one.

If anyone wants more info on either one, let me know.

Bob
