Just noticed that APM no longer lists the Intes scopes on their website.

Are they no longer available?  As of two weeks ago you could still custom order an Intes Mak Newt from them.

Going to hold onto my MN66 for dear life now!

Cue creepy voice: Good thing you didn't put your location in your profile, Jake. The world will soon be overrun by astro-zombies, mumbling "Intes-Micro, Intes-Micro...," as they break into houses looking for Maksutovs. Even saying you're from a region like the North-East narrows it down too much. Best just to get out of their way.

Trying to figure out why Intes Micro is no longer on the APM web site will just lead to rampant speculation. Markus Ludes is pretty active here, so a PM is likely to get an answer.

I have been hesitating to purchase one last year in October, but the delivery time was one year, so I just purchased a Synta one, saving also 1000 euros. It's true that they disappeared from the APM website, as far as I understand the Mak-Cass left there (as referenced in the message of Luxo II) are customized ones from APM, not full Intes-Micro ones.

I hope they are not out of business, it was nice to have another player with good quality around, + able to deliver large size maks.

Has more to do with Putin instructing Russian optics labs to focus output on products other than amateur scopes.

APM have similar issues with the (non) availability of objectives from LZOS.

Sounds plausible, just like I can't get an US-made night vision device (restricted export).

Sometimes, particularly after any premium eyepiece purchase or buying a new OTA, it is hard to remember there is a much more lucrative optics market out there other than the amateur telescope one.

That's the same reason Tal isn't very active in the amateur-market anymore.

That would explain WHY my Intes Micro MN76 is getting offers at the store its being repaired at for a bad motofocus.

I read an article a few days ago that mentioned that the guy in charge of the Russian space program was going to cede a lot of rocket business to SpaceX and go after more payload business, where he says more money can be made.  Optics in orbit makes sense.

Teleskop-express in Germany shows some Intes Micro Maks on their website.  They even have the 8” f/10 model in stock.

Would you guys get the 203mm (in stock) 1/5 to 1/6 mirror or wait for the 180mm with 1/8 mirror?

Depends. What is the focal ratio of each scope? What would you be using it for? If the 8" is f10 and you want a more all around telescope go for it. If the 180 is f15 and you are mainly interested in lunar, planets, double stars etc go for it.

I would go myself for the higher optical quality if it also has a smaller obstruction. Win win.

I asked for the 1/8 mirror for my M500, and from how it performs at high power have no regrets (more or less like a good refractor, which however would be noticeably more expensive and vastly more cumbersome/heavy); but it took me almost a full year to have the telescope through APM, so if are in hurry, or fear that IM telescopes will not be available anymore, grab the one readily available

I would go for the 8" I-M myself.  How do you know the 180 will have a 1/8 mirror?

If you install Kaspersky on your Intes-Micro you're cruising for a bruising big time.

There has been many bad event in Intes Micro since March 2017, I will not list them, but I confirm they cannot deliver on time since much before. APM has been very protective for them, my opinion.

I have ordered a high end MN 68 telescope more than one year ago that is not yet arrived in Europa : it could be one of the last made for exportation.

I kept silence since now about it, but as APM has suspended sells for thoses models, I feel now I can speak about it.

But the Russians can help you find it if you lose it with that installed.

I would seriously consider the 8" f/10 Intes in stock, if still in stock.  Placing a custom order now seems risky for the Deluxe.  And in what I've seen, none of these scopes, standard or deluxe, has a mediocre RMS.  Some may be less than 1/8 wave ptv, but the RMS is usually about 0.027 or better and RMS is what counts as it's closely proportional to Strehl.  Wolfgang Rohr has tested quite a few Intes Maks and posted the results. For instance, he tested three M715 scopes, like mine. Two were deluxe and one was standard. The standard was the best of the three! But it did not have exotic glass, so it was a standard.  My standard has a ptv of 0.117 wave and an RMS of 0.024 which calculates to a strehl of nearly 0.98 -- I have no deluxe envy.  Cheers!
