I found a picture of writer Arthur C. Clarke and his Questar.

When I was 15 years old, I had the privilege of meeting the man. There was a science symposium in San Antonio in April 1968 and he was invited to attend. My father was covering some of the publicity of this (he was in the Civil Service at the time at Brooks AFB), and I was given a job as a gopher. So I was thrilled when he showed, and we actually managed to have a brief conversation or two.

One of my very favorite science and science-writers. A couple of months after that, 2001: A Space Odyssey came out, and it remains at the top of my list of SF films.

I LOVE that they describe the Q as a "large telescope."  That's it for me.  Large it is!  grin.gif

And those photos weren’t just shoots for an ad. He was the real deal as far as being an amateur astronomer. I always thought that was cool! Johnny also had a C14 and a Unitron model 114 (60mm x 900mm on alt-az mount). Now if he would have been looking out the window with the C14 it woulda been big! :wow: It just wouldn’t have been a Questar! ;)
