[edit]  Oh, and hint:  If you have any really cool old HO train stuff, he might be interested in some horse tradin'.  I'm putting words in his mouth, so don't shoot me if I'm wrong, but he did show off what he's working on right now.  It could be worth a shot.

Looks like lots of us are in a clearing out mode. I have another one leaving this week.

Funny you should say that. I had the Mayflower 816 out last night, enjoying its magnificent optics and views. But since I have no private yard and I live on the 2nd floor condo, carrying down the OTA, the Vixen Great Polaris, the eyepiece box, the power supply, seat, table and books takes considerable effort, and it’s not going to get any easier as time goes by. Then there is getting it all put away again after observing. Using the Questar is so much easier and far more relaxing. So, for the first time I’m actually considering selling both Mayflowers and the Great Polaris mount. Still need to think this over carefully.

Here is a local, to me, cave f/5. I am very, very  seriously considering this. https://www.ebay.com...GYAAOSwru9bFzug

needs the secondary and likely a recoat, the mount will probably need to be completely gone through and cleaned. The counterweight shaft is 1". This is about a 45 minute drive for me.

EDIT: Well, I was so serious I couldn't wait...............grin.gif

I'll call the vendor and arrange PU for tomorrow.

I am in buying mode. Offered up $3200 for a FS128 but no luck.  I guess i am gonna shoot for that new 6" ED coming out. Been buying eyepieces and just bought back my eyepiece case for a crazy price since i had to have it back.  The way i am buying Pano's i need my old case back.

I had that monster a while back but never used it.  Just no way a scope that size will work at my place or for my back jack.

I got an idea! Lets eightteen of us buy shares of it for 50 bucks and keep it at Rolo’s we can use it whenever we visit him. Kind of like a timeshare telescope!

It would take 18 of us to lift it up on the mount.

If only I was still living in any one of my houses.  I’d build a roll-off roof for it.

I think a 12.5” f/6 is a perfect telescope.

Sounds like  a good deal.  At least we can make sure the scope does not end up in some idiots hands again and Rolo can keep it safe.

You guys are truly the best! You have no idea how much I appreciate you.

As difficult as this is for me  its something that I must do. It's not the scope but the memories of using it with son, the love and the history of attaining and using it.

I have to to be realistic and accept that it's not a practical scope to own even after the transplant. I will not be able to lift anything heavy so that will change the hobby for me.

I love you guys, you're the best!

Get someone who can lift the weight (maybe a couple or 3 someones) to put that whole thing on oversized industrial casters with brakes, and roll it back and forth from now on.  If I had to put this thing together every time I went to use it, I'd never use it (of course, I've been so busy with Cosmic Acres the past couple years that I haven't even rolled it out of the garage in that time).
