These two galaxies, along with nearby NGC 3991, form a cluster that Arp designated as #313 in his Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies. He saw "linear strings of knots, like deformed spiral arms" in 3995. I saw spots of uneven brightness in both galaxies.

Drawn with 2B and 4H pencils on Canson drawing pad, and processed with GIMP 2.8 software.

Very nice sketch of an interesting pair of galaxies. I overlooked it time and time again, but I will rectify that when they are once again in a good position to observe. I'm sure I can get a good view of it with my 15-inch, even from my milky skies, light polluted area.
