So with wide field targets like Rho Op I have seen a few options for these areas of sky.

one seems to be doing large mosaics - with the obvious integration time needed

or ... using a wide angle lens connected to the ZWO/QHY camera via adapter

Now obviously pixel scale/arcmin comes into play for these.

I already have an SV70T which I can press into use and do mosaics but I was thinking of adding a DSLR lens and adapter that I can mount on say my AVX mount and image off that using a small guidescope/camera combo.

Keen to hear thoughts on alternatives - being as this target is up for hours right over head seems a waste not to be imaging on it

we do have a Ioptron DSLR tracker as well and I have a Nikon D5300 astro modded that can be used ... with a 55mm lens

thoughts?

Rgds

Hi. I have always been impressed with the Samyang 135mm and the qhy163m/asi1600 camera. The 183 series would be also a nice combo.

I have a few examples on my Astrobin.
