You'd be so nice to come home to

You'd be so nice to come home to
You'd be so nice by the fire
While the breeze on high sang a lullaby
You'd be all that I could desire

Under stars chilled by the winter
Under an August moon burning above
You'd be so nice, you'd be paradise
To come home to and love

You'd be so nice to come home to

While the breeze on high sang a lullaby
You'd be all that I could desire

Under stars chilled by the winter
Under an August moon burning above
You'd be so nice, you'd be paradise
To come home to and love

I can't give you anything but love

That's been off and on for over a year, overpriced for what's there.

If it is in VG condition and complete I would offer $100, knowing that others might claim even a lower value. But only after researching the specific model and optics performance reputation.

Here is a link to the 18p manual so you can evaluate it better for completeness.  The one you've posted has the wooden tripod, which I believe pre-dated the metal legs.  In my opinion, wood is better.  I agree with DMala on price for condition.

Nice lead in to August by Cole Porter

good work by Ken as moderator

August= longer nights, peepers peeping, perseids meteor shower, Stellafane....

All the good classic stuff is in Florida?  Could it be that folks retire down south  then eventually let some old stuff go a little bit here   a little bit there  ?

PS “All the good classic stuff is in Florida.” I was being facetious (in a playful way) to past posts complaining of Florida not having any good stuff.

Regarding the Unitron 114 from letgo in the Tulsa area -- I've tried several times to contact the seller but he has not responded.  The posting is still there.  I'm wondering whether or not he already sold it.

Will keep trying.

It's worth it since it must be very rare. After all the ad says it's a D=60mm F=9000mm. grin.gif

Seriously, condition, luck, and timing is a big factor. $100-$125 is probably fair. On the other hand recently the silver version of the same scope (branded as a Tropic), in what appeared to be great condition was on Craigslist Ventura CA for $20. The add ran for several weeks and expired so it probably never sold. I hate to think what might happen to it. Point is, patience can really pay off.

It would be cool for a kid, it would be cool for me.  The optics most likely will be good, but they are not RAO good.

It is an older scope.  I'm saying that because it has a wooden tripod. It looks like a nice little kit.

Price is still a bit too high, IMO.

Kind of looks like a newer Celestron Astro-this-or-that mount.

For those who need a little Orange in their life.

https://www.shopgood...m/Item/55786374

Interesting that Celestron names it Cometron 60 Orange (CO-60-OR).

Maybe it was also available in black the same year?

Looks to be in great shape for it's age.

IMHO, more of a collectible/novelty than for anything else.

Just as well be in another state.  200+ miles away. I don't have anything to slap on that mount anyways but my heavy TMB.

In reference to the "what did you observe" thread discussion, I see a .965 Tak 4mm OR available on the CN classified:

I agree. I sent the seller an email. They sent back pictures of the eyepieces and barlow. This scope came with the cheapest stuff available. I thought, maybe, if it had those better eyepieces that sears sold for awhile I might just do it. At least I would have considered talking to him and making an offer.

But no, I'll pass.

This is a weird (to me) basic Vixen 80/910 scope. Alt-az mount but overall fit and finish are clearly below the level of the Custom series.

Is this already something manufactured in China, or some earlier offering from some Japanese subcontractor?

It's an uncommon Vixen Japan model (you can see the JTMA gold sticker on the OTA).  Maybe from the 1990s??

That may be a silver oval JTII sticker on the OTA. So might be 73 to 77/78 time frame. Also there may be later inspection sticker on the finder dew shield. Hard to tell, but might be from the mid 80s time frame for the finder sticker. So maybe replacement finder or scope was packaged in mid 80s and used an older scope from inventory. If someone has better pics to look at more closer, send them to me and I get try to get a better idea of what the stickers are.

Stephen,

The OTA's oval sticker looks gold to me and I'm real sure that the sticker on the finder is one of the versions of the sun/solar warning sticker that Vixen always seems to put on finders.
