65mm N-K with original eq mount, tripod, and assorted goodies, all in pretty nice condition. This is one of the rarer Japanese scopes folks, and the optics are primo!

This looks like the same one that was on eBay for a month this summer, and ended up selling for less than a thousand.  I think I originally posted it.  Note the finder objective is missing on both.

Yep, here is our listing and it looks like the eBay listing is still showing up:  LINK

Correct me if I'm wrong but this sure looks like the same scope.

Great price.  Notice the mount  is backwards on the scope.  ALL these fork mounted little refractors, across the board, had the Styrofoam engineered wrong and the mount/OTA assembly never fit right as a unit. You had to reverse the OTA or keep the mount separate to get it in the box. I've seen every configuration to cram it in you could imagine. I had a couple at least, long gone sold. I've searched plenty of pictures to try to figure it out and its just the Styrofoam that was flopped in design.

IF ANYONE has a correct Styrofoam fitting, please post a picture with make/model.

It is. Same serial number. 1956 vintage or even a bit older.

Even without the same serial number, the front pic of the dew shield looking at the objective show the identical scrapes on the edge of the dew shield. Along with many other wear scuff that match.

You'd think if someone is going to flip that they might wait a bit longer until us detectives grin.gif might have forgotten about it. If the scope was restored or the mount rebuilt, I good justify paying a higher price than the ebay ad to compensate ones time and work.

Ad was listed as free local pick up, so shipping had to be over a hundred plus. But paying for someones shipping cost and then have to pay again for shipping, that's not for me. Just saying that's all.

Tasco 14TE on Ebay . . .

Never seen one come up for sale before, didn't even know there was such a thing.  When I saw it listed, I searched thru CN to find out some information.

The BIN price was way too high, even though the seller is saying it has never been removed from it's original box.

The seller added today, "make offer".  I did, and they accepted!  smile.gif

Being in my own backyard, I didn't have to bother with shipping charges either.  I will pick it up tomorrow or the next.

I wonder if this Cave is still for sale:

https://www.cloudyni...uatorial-mount/

I'm scared to find out because I like it but I have no where for the big boy to live here at

camp Clamchip.

I've a good feelin' about this scope, someone should 'check it out.'

Well if anyone wants to try and get it for less it seems to be listed on eBay right now with no reserve. Currently $405, 8 bids and three days to go. I suppose the owner will cancel the auction if someone bites at $1545 here on CN

I've posted it a few times but here it is again. I've had one since new. It's identical twin minus the finder, tray and diagonal is in the other one's box. There are two more pieces of foam that cover these. They are always missing from the ones I've seen for sale. The instruction tell you how to store it, but they usually get lost too. If you look carefully you can just barely see one of the original small little pieces of foam that goes between each leg. I'm probably one of the rare people who has saved them.

Mayflower-814-Box.jpg

My Manon only came with the piece of foam on the right. It works pretty good when placed in the middle of the box.

a way over priced 6339-A in my opinion, no box, missing stuff, shows use, and $550.

Not bi_ing, just my opinion.\

super nice vintage edmund 4" reflector on EQ pedestal mount with finder, EP, and barlow for $90 east of denver, judging from the ad the seller looks to be pretty cool too:

76/910mm Lafayette F-384

Quite an elaborate listing.

A bit over the top with the description and watermarked photos.

https://www.ebay.com...8cAAOSwyUtbfbdJ

A somewhat uncommon Penncrest 60/1000mm

https://www.ebay.com...YEAAOSwaGBbewsS

This Jupiter disappears and keeps being re-isted.

It's scary lens and overall condition doesn't fit the price.

https://www.ebay.com...lMAAOSwPkBaeoGF

This very pretty Sky Chief II just flew under the radar.

I did my best and held off from bidding.

Perhaps the shipping was too high for those farther away.

Being loose in the box without foam or dividers doesn't build confidence.

I've got one, in excellent condition.  Nice scope, one of Towa's better efforts.  Not the optical perfection of a 7TE, but pretty good.

I was watching that one and was amazed at the low final price.  Seller is a former regular CN poster.

I parted one out recently, the objective was not putting up good images and the kit was far from complete.  It's helped a few restorations by others so was worthwhile.  If you find one with a decent objective, it's a nice rig.  The one I had had a crown and flint of slightly different diameter.  One element was always loose in the cell.  I tried shimming it but centration was hard to achieve and once achieved, impossible to maintain.  One that slipped-past QA I suppose.

waytogo.gif I have one too. Basically got it or a song last Feb. on the Goodwill site. I've only seen the one on ebay and another on GW pop up since.

Mine's in pretty good condition and once the clean-storation is 100% finished should be close to excellent.

The finder although might look incomplete it is complete. Reminds me of the look of a Telementor.

You are not alone. My mayflower that came from Bomberbob still has these, and I am careful to insure that they stay with the scope and don't blow away on the breeze

I would have bought the FS128 if it was local. I tried to offer someone 3400 smackers for one not long ago.  I am not going any higher.

A nice Stellarvue 80/9D refractor on their M4 mount.  This is an older model - the mount has lovely hardwood legs.

Ben

Those are really excellent scopes for achromats. I remember early one morning during the Great Mars Opposition of 2003, I had my 80/9D out on my driven GPDX (I no longer have either). The air was very, very still- near perfect seeing. It was about an hour before sun-up. I had my Vixen 2.5mm LV in the 80/9D so the scope was doing very nearly 100X per inch, and the image of the Red Planet was sharp and holding.
